New Ben Eine print for CALM, by Hubble Bubble on Mar 10, 2021 11:48:45 GMT 1, I find it fine. If anything to me it references his battle with drug addiction. I hope he's on top of that and clean.

I think the OP is referring to assaulting his partner in public.

I feel it requires more of a stretch to be associated with that incident rather than his battle with drug addiction. However, I guess it can be associated with whatever you want it to be associated with.

I donโt remotely see this as a stretch. You donโt get to brush physical abuse against women under the carpet (โthat incidentโ).
I believe the prints association is intended to reference his ongoing struggle with drug abuse and by extension his mental health (or vice versa) however itโs clearly an own goal..

I believe the prints association is intended to reference his ongoing struggle with drug abuse and by extension his mental health (or vice versa) however itโs clearly an own goal.. I wasn't trying to brush it under the carpet. In fact, by acknowledging it and entering into this debate, I'm doing quite the opposite. I simply used 'that incident' to refer to your description of the assault without repeating the description of it, much in the same way as I use the word 'his' instead of naming 'Ben Eine'.
I repeat my assertion though that the words 'once I ran to you now I run from you' can, in my view, more logically be associated with a battle against heroin addiction than an incident of physically assaulting one's female partner.
That is my only point. The opprobrium against Eine for this singularly distasteful and cowardly act of violence has been well documented and returns frequently here. I agree with the sentiments entirely. I don't however, believe this piece of art refers to that incident in the mind of the artist.

There is an established correlation between the number of EINE artworks owned and the degree to which a blind eye can be turned. If that was aimed at me, I find it deeply offensive and unwarranted.

New Ben Eine print for CALM, by Hubble Bubble on Mar 10, 2021 12:48:33 GMT 1, Singular in this instance refers to the conspicuous and unique distastefulness of the act, not the frequency of how many times the act might have occurred. Its use doesn't in any way suggest I was asserting it was a one off occurrence. I have no idea if it was or wasn't.

Not aimed at you or any singular individual in particular. It's a sociological observation of recorded behaviour. There is a clear correlation on display. No problem then. Thanks for explaining.

What started on a chat about the meaning of an artwork has become a battle of sematics.
However, I think we can all agree that violence against women is despicable, cowardly and deserves to be punished and criticised wherever it occurs.
Peace to all.

Going to court, pleading guilty, being handed a sentence and serving it, is a long way from anyone brushing it under the carpet. He did wrong. He's paid his debt to society. Not many know how he's paid it back on a personal level. From what I know he's fighting plenty of demons and trying to turn his life around. Not that he's arsed but I don't think it does anyone any favours continuing to castigate him. He already has to live with what he's done.

To be clear, I wasn't accusing you personally of attempting to brush the incident under the carpet so if my initial post was poorly written then please accept my apology (I mean this sincerely). It seems we're talking about two different things.
You're referring to "the mind of the artist". Clearly Eine won't want to consciously revisit his assault so I feel you're stating the obvious.
I am referring to what collectors may well be thinking when they read this as unfortunate parallels can easily be drawn between:
1. The incident in question
2. Struggles with his ongoing mental health and drug addiction.
You can place these in any order you prefer but that is my take on it.

Oh I am sure the artist isn't referring to that incident when creating this and pretty positive like others it will be in relation to his drug issues (or he just bloody loves the song) however when I saw it the first thing I thought of was his conviction for domestic abuse and how uncomfortable it comes across
I don't think one incident should define someone and I have some Ben Eine pieces, but certainly this would not be one I would feel comfortable hanging on my walls
