Events thread..., by John The Badgers on Mar 29, 2021 10:19:02 GMT 1, Just a thought, but as things return to something nearing normality, can’t wait to get out and about again and visit some galleries, exhibitions etc.
Thought a decent thread on up-and-coming events?
Would enable people to share things which hopefully of interest to other members?
I know it would be appreciated here.

Events thread..., by Terry Fuckwitt on Mar 29, 2021 10:50:17 GMT 1, I'm looking forward to this...
26 June—31 October 2021 Vanguard | Bristol Street Art: The evolution of a global movement
vanguardstreetart.com/
An extensive new exhibition celebrating the international street art movement will open at M Shed in 2021.
Vanguard | Bristol Street Art celebrates Bristol’s instrumental role in the development of British street art, with rare work by leading Bristolian, British and Irish artists – including seminal works from the late 90’s.
Works from Henry Chalfant, Banksy and Beezer will feature, through to deep fake viral sensation Bill Posters, and Conor Harrington. A selection of the works on display have not previously been seen and some not shown in public for over 20 years.
The exhibition will explore the evolution of street art in response to Bristol’s unique identity and underground culture – beginning with its anarchist origins in the 80’s and 90’s to the global phenomenon that is street art today.
An additional focus on international artists beyond the UK will spotlight the growing relationship between art and sustainability.

Ha ha no problem at all John - working from home in the pandemic has some advantages, I've been able to just leave it running all day - only 1036 in front now!

Events thread..., by funyoung on May 6, 2021 19:41:42 GMT 1, Not necessarily urban but rather a mixed bunch at Ikon. Great for new artists etc. 250 artists affected by COVID in some way or other. A great way to show appreciation to the Brum art scene.

‘Never Left | 不曾離開’
Liang is the product of a global upbringing. He was born in Taiwan, however was raised from an early age in Mainland China. During his adolescence he relocated to Australia, and then later to Canada for high school and post-secondary education. Liang has since chosen to put down some permanent roots in Canada, and maintains a residence there to this day.
For the first time in nearly three decades, Liang has returned to the place of his birth. His intent is to reclaim a lost personal heritage and experience his native culture firsthand. This new series of work brings the discovery of something new, yet oddly familiar, to life.
The exhibition expresses a sense of nostalgia, like watching a long forgotten film once again. Liang expertly captures the everyday experience in Taiwan with an almost cinematic air. His sensitive observation of the Taiwanese experience attempt to forge connection, and create non-existent memories to compensate for his many years abroad.
‘Never Left | 不曾離開’ Opens May 15th. Vernissage ; May 15th 15:00 - 19:00

"Living abroad can often leave one feeling like they exist in an alternate reality. However, with time comes the understanding that everything is a result of perspective and that we are free to live any way we choose.'Remote
Velocity' was built in that frame of mind. After years of traveling and living transiently, Dutch graffiti artist Fleks and Spanish Graffiti artist Orbita have settled on the remote island nation of Taiwan. Here they feel inspired to create their own path and their work reflects the freedom of their choices. ”
