Lost & Forgotten Masterpieces (Non Banksy), by Cocteau 101 on Apr 11, 2021 19:24:25 GMT 1, There are many Banksy masterpieces we've seen over the years but what about great pieces by other artists that have gone under the radar or with the passage of time have been forgotten.
I'll start with this:
Guy Denning - Minotaur Boy - I still have this work and it is one of the best conte and chalk drawings I've seen and it's massive. 130cm x 90cm

Lost & Forgotten Masterpieces (Non Banksy), by scavos on Apr 11, 2021 21:44:57 GMT 1, Not seen that before, thanks for sharing; great piece. Denning is so prolific and totally underrated in my view. Minotaur Woman is one of my favourite pieces of art; such defiance and power in the expression. I have the print (which is still available at Red Propeller I believe) and envy the owner of the original. He's a master of darkness but I especially love his occasional use of turquoise.

Itโs magnificent, my friend. I used to have a steaming head original. It was a piece that I sold with a heavy heart when I unavoidably had to raise funds. Iโve reached out to the buyer to ask for first refusal should he ever decide to sell. It was a favourite. I recall that I used to tell the kids that it was called โthe man who stubbed his toeโ! Lovely bloke who deserves all the recognition he gets.

I agree with every word. I canโt begin to describe how happy I was when 8Mail has a joint show with him some time ago. Btw, so pleased to see you posting again. Hopefully we can meet up for a show sometime, as we used to in the 00โs.

Lost & Forgotten Masterpieces (Non Banksy), by theclash on Apr 12, 2021 9:24:24 GMT 1, These original pieces by Hans Jenssen mostly havenโt made it into public realm as Lucas and Lucasfilm bought most of the time but to any Starwars / SiFi fan they are awesome.
Each of the cross sections took him about 250 hours to draw and also going back and forth with Lucas to discuss. Link below shows the progression.
www.hansjenssen.co.uk/about
Some of the different works can be seen in:

Lost & Forgotten Masterpieces (Non Banksy), by Hairbland on Apr 12, 2021 11:20:02 GMT 1, This thread reminds me of a small Urban Art show I saw in LA about 6 years ago. Single pieces by a few known artists and some less known. I recall a Robt. Williams piece, and an Eine Circus Font to name two.

Lee. Awesome collection! Great contributor to this place so he was.

Lost & Forgotten Masterpieces (Non Banksy), by lee3 on Apr 13, 2021 4:52:50 GMT 1, Thanks Scavos & Goose, appreciated. Still here almost daily though more of a browser anymore. That was a great collection of knowledgable minds at Ian's Wallkandy site and I miss that bunch. I think most of those folks gave up here after they were banned en masse back in ~'07. Good to see many mentioning Choe from way back when as I share that sentiment. As a struggling artist flexing his powers at Levine and early at Laz, he was as talented and captivating as anyone. That financial struggle was short lived like few in this world but nice to see him still making inspiring work on insta. His composition of Hendrix was perfect to my eyes too as it looks like Jimi sounds.

Lost & Forgotten Masterpieces (Non Banksy), by chichi carter on Apr 13, 2021 11:53:24 GMT 1, I don't know if I'd call it a masterpiece but it is most definitely lost and forgotten as it never gets mentioned when it comes to Conor Harrington. 'Holy Smoke' from 2010, each print from the edition has a hand painted background. Picked up from Laz back in 2013. The roster of artists represented by Laz was just insane. It boggles the mind when you think about what he's up to these days. Sorry about the reflections in the picture...

That is a great piece, just dropped a Harrington at the framers along with 4 other pieces now that framers are allowed open again.
