Bast, by kaimac on Sept 5, 2024 1:21:08 GMT 1, At best this thread is in horribly poor taste. Sure reads like someone trying to generate interest for something they're about to try and sell.
Bast was a real person, who is very missed by a good number of other real people, many of whom are in this forum. Have a little respect.

Bast, by met on Sept 5, 2024 6:46:19 GMT 1, Enjoy creating drama I see? Chill out
In this instance, the term "drama" is not one I would use.
My earlier post was restrained. And perhaps even obvious to the point of being boring.
But the commentary therein does seem fair to me. Otherwise, I'd have remained silent.
__________
Since registering your account on the forum last month, you've made a total of 11 posts. Each and every one of them about BรST.
Moreover, the posts are often hyping. Not so much about the art than about the market, with throwaway assertions that BรST "is making a big comeback" and his work is currently "selling like hotcakes".
You further commented that:
(i) "A LOT of new artists" are biting his style;
(ii) "there are a lot of knock offs of his work and reproductions from people claiming its original work"; and
(iii) people apparently "don't want to pay money for high level art work".
And all of the above specialist market information being shared just one month after your first post*, in which you confirmed having only recently discovered the artist:
Hi I just discovered this artist who goes by the name Ba st and love hiswork. Anyone know anything about him ? www (dot) ba stny (dot) com
If, on balance, this behaviour doesn't look suspicious to you, then perceptiveness may not be one of your fortes.

Enjoy creating drama I see? Chill out You're obviously here with a (hidden) agenda, which is generally not appreciated for obvious reasons. Everybody on here loves Ba st and his works, but nobody (apart from you) is obsessed with pricing and sales. And Ba st works are not selling "like hotcakes" (your wording) ... quite a few gorgeous pieces on here recently and most if not all of them sat around for a long time, maybe not even selling in the end.
As referred to below by kaimac, there is a separate issue here relating to timing and decency:
For a respected artist who tragically passed away three years ago, a loss still raw to many, the substance and tone of the original poster's comments may have seemed crass.
Some fans of BรST will therefore have found the comments grating, myself included.
[This, in addition to the unpleasant suspicion of being strung along by a boorish seller, who appears to be trying to prime the market with claims of a supposedly amazing number of sales having recently taken place, notwithstanding:
(a) their later denial about actually being a seller; and
(b) their assertion that they don't even own any work by the artist.]
Hence a certain level of collective blowback in this thread.
Under the circumstances, such a reaction seems reasonable to me, rather than being a case of oversensitivity.
It is also unsurprising โ a bit like the original poster's strop after they were criticised (whether that strop was genuine, or expressed with faux indignation to remain in character):
WOW there are some real trolls & bottom feeders here. I was warned about this Ur ban art scene and did not think much of it but I now get it. I am not looking to sell anything. I discovered Ba st recently and am smitten with his work and would love to own a piece someday and was hoping to chat with folks in the art scene about him. Instead I am getting bombarded with these ridiculous insulting comments. I have better things to do with my time then to get harassed by trolls on a fo rum so I am out of here.

His works are selling like hotcakes. The new site had some limited pieces for sale and they were all sold. Anyone here buying? also noticed A LOT of new artists are totally copying off him Why do I get the impression you are about to post a "for sale" thread?
Indeed, while possibly also using a different account.
And if so, then who knows? The For Sale thread(s) or listing(s) might already exist.

Sticking with the analogy, my own sense from the outset is that BรST has always lived in a multistorey apartment.

Very well worded.
