‘Out of Home’ - Book, Prints and Exhibition, by JockoLad on May 12, 2021 17:59:53 GMT 1, During the first lockdown, those living homeless in London (and also the the rest of the UK) suffered immeasurably.
Two of my good friends, living in central London and aware of the impact that the lockdown was having upon some of their homeless friends, provided an employment opportunity for photographs to be taken on disposable cameras. All participants were paid £20 per camera filled, with a maximum of 1 camera per day and a recommended work time of 1hr 45m meaning that they would be paid the London minimum wage. 6 homeless individual were employed, with my friends funding the project personally with additional funding provided by friends.
The photos taken have now been compiled into a book available for £25 here: outofhome.org.uk
Photo prints are also available for only £40: shop.outofhome.org.uk/collections/limited-edition-prints
A selection of photographs is also currently on display outside St Martin in the Fields, Trafalgar Square.
All proceeds will be shared with the participants and homeless charities.
Please take a minute to have a look at the site and please consider buying the book and perhaps even a print. As I have said previously, my friends started this as a personal project to provide a little hope for others during a particularly miserable time and it has grown into something quite extraordinary.

‘Out of Home’ - Book, Prints and Exhibition, by JockoLad on May 12, 2021 18:02:30 GMT 1, During the project one of the participants tragically passed away. For me, this image is incredibly powerful. Taken by Kelly, it shows only her foot and is the last known image of her alive. I find it so incredibly difficult to look at knowing the background story and consider it a stark reminder of the fragility of life.
