Art Car Boot Fair, by bullet on Jun 14, 2009 21:04:29 GMT 1, was a good show but very busy. Gavin Turk was the normal random rubbish but enjoyed the rest and the pure evil girls were fun. pez, i also saw some of this stuff you picked up but tend to leave things like that on the street. Did you grab that charming baker thing as well? Fair enough Freerange - but Semple was encouraging people to go on a treasure hunt for the prints. He seemed genuinely chuffed that someone had taken the trouble to find one and bring it too him to get signed.
i was not having a go, just interested to see what else you picked up as the charming baker thing was right next to that print on the wall

Art Car Boot Fair, by Sacked... on Jun 14, 2009 21:07:58 GMT 1, I went along - saw a few forumites there. Absolutely rammed. Went with my daughter and we had a pretty good time. Got quite a lot of booty: We found this stuart semple print in brick lane, stuart was putting them all over for people to find. When we took it in stuart kindly signed and hand finished it. Also found this work on cardboard outside: My daughter's already displayed that one in her bedroom. Once inside queued forever for the peter blake print and got one of the last ones: And my daughter did a brass rubbing that was then signed by Bob and Roberta smith All in all a good day
Hi pez,i think you found the sign telling everybody where ben and friends were having a show in the Vibe bar over the road from the fair.Ben Oakkley has pieces on Hipart. Stuart Semple also had a limited edition print for sale .

Art Car Boot Fair, by pezlow on Jun 14, 2009 21:17:52 GMT 1, All of the 100 stuart semple prints were blutacked around the brick lane area for people to collect. He did the same thing for the fair last year. I saw the limited print for sale - looked nice too.
I did see a charming baker poster further down the street but didn't take that.
The ben oakley piece was one of a few that a young lady was carrying around with her friend and they were dotting around the place - they were placed image side up so weren't signs. I saw a few people collecting them My daughter loves it and has put it on a shelf in her room.

Art Car Boot Fair, by jay1882 on Jun 14, 2009 21:30:20 GMT 1, Rocked up about 11.30 and joined the rapidly growing line along Brick Lane....then realized that everyone was just queuing simply beacuse there was a queue and you could just walk straight in through the indoor market. Was one of the first punters in and there wasn't much of a crowd for the Peter Blake booth, but I passed on the print. Yeah, I know it's Peter Blake and I know it was only 40 quid. But it was pretty pony, no?

Art Car Boot Fair, by Ruggs on Jun 14, 2009 21:57:57 GMT 1, sacked! I met him and his son outside the fair. They were giving out flyers. Stood and spoke to him for a bit. Then went to see his show down Redchurch Street. Met him there again and got him to sign the show poster and blagged one of the plastic e-flute posters. A very nice guy indeed.

when are these places going to realise that the need for an orderly queue is imperative to a happy bunch of punters.
how many shows have people been to where people dont take any notice of the first rule of queuing which is don't be disrespectful to those that have spent their time waiting in a fair system.

Art Car Boot Fair, by Ruggs on Jun 14, 2009 22:44:01 GMT 1, The organisation for queuing wasn't great to be honest. Had to queue outside one of the undercover markets on Brick Lane. My mate and I were first in the queue. After an hour or so we eventually paid and got our hands stamped at about 11.30ish. Then went through to the undercover market where there was a side entrance into the fair. We had to start queuing again! Some people were pleading ignorance about what was going on, but I think they knew exactly what they were doing. Then around midday it went a bit mad and it seemed to become a free-for-all behind us. The poor people who were queuing out on Brick Lane were probably unaware that certain individuals were queue jumping. Not good! Should be better organised next year.

Art Car Boot Fair, by bullet on Jun 14, 2009 23:52:04 GMT 1, the size is just under a3. the blake prints are always a strange size like the content.
after lining up for ages, fighting another line inside you feel you have to buy something so i did, i bought a couple of things with the blake.. i got the blake print last year for the art car boot which i preferred myself but this one is a typical peter blake.
PM me if you want a swap

I had to stop some chancer at POW's open day queue, the silly things was he spent 40 minutes talking to his mates that were in the queue, but on the wrong side of the barriers, if he had joined the queue as soon as he got there, he would have been about 20th in the queue, instead of 200th by the time he decided to join (jump) the queue. and I'm sure he is on here, you know who you are

Art Car Boot Fair, by jay1882 on Jun 15, 2009 10:47:18 GMT 1, Peter Blake was ยฃ30.00 jay.
Apologies. My bad. I thought I recalled the woman on the booth saying that the signed editions were more expensive. Either way, I decided to swerve it.
As for the queue issues, I agree that the organziation could have been a lot better. The hundreds waiting in Brick Lane had no idea that you could just walk straight through to the entrance of the car boot.....though maybe people should take some responsibility and actually check exactly what they are queuing for instead of just assuming?

It was ยฃ35 in an edition of 10. Each one unique. There was an edition on 12" vinyl also. Not sure if there were any left at the end of the day. It might be worth emailing Scrawl Collective.

Art Car Boot Fair, by sfield on Sept 28, 2009 12:29:44 GMT 1, Did anyone go to the smaller version of the Art Car Boot at Portobello Dock on Saturday? I only found out about it at the last minute and there were only a dozen people there when it opened at ten, compared to the normal hundreds at the Brick Lane event. I was second in line for the Peter Blake print, and when I left at half ten it was still quite empty.
For anyone that went, did it get any busier later on?
