Art Car Boot Fair, by Board Stupid on Jun 16, 2015 18:44:58 GMT 1, Interested to know why do people buy these individual letters. why you would buy a letter unless it has some meaning to you such as an initial? I am guilty of buying an X thinking for some reason that it's generic enough to have on the wall. I guess E made sense as it was new and it's E for Eine. X made sense as XXX or kisses (It was valentines) B and C will make more sense to own if/when you have the A too. But yes, some letters are going to struggle to sell until people can start spelling things... or if enough people want the whole alphabet!
I agree that having a B, E or both makes sense as they relate to the artist - buying any other letters would only be for personal reasons (your initials, kids initials, etc).

Art Car Boot Fair, by bkcbongo on Jun 16, 2015 22:39:25 GMT 1, I wanted a B as it is my first name initial - almost went for a C as well as that is my surname initial but decided that that was a bit too egocentric! I couldn't make the boot sale but have luckily been able to get a set at cost afterwards. Look great in the flesh, very happy considering the price. What were peoples favourite colourways, I can't make my mind up...
B's sold better than C's apparently.

So I walked round for a bit, went back to jealous and they where showing it to someone else and I heard them say £500. I could have kicked myself but then they said no, I went straight in(why I didn’t ask how much at the start I will never know what a tool ) really happy with it and the wife even likes it !!!

Art Car Boot Fair, by bagpuss on Jun 18, 2015 11:40:57 GMT 1, I asked about all the Matt Small pieces; records, on metal and on tin, when I walked in. The tin one seemed the best value but, as I already own two pieces by Matt, I couldn't justify another outlay.

Wonderful! I have the set from the last show with massive signatures accords each one. Just no room to display them. And some great books. True eccentrics of the art world.

Art Car Boot Fair, by Deleted on Jun 18, 2015 18:41:14 GMT 1, Anyone heard anything about how Nick Walker's getting on redoing his New York stencil? The woman taking the addresses down said Nick was leaving the UK in two weeks, so they would try to get them out by then. But being a market stall it was all a bit vague.

Seconded - I would have hoped for a little acknowledgement and clarity (from either NW or the ACBF) as to what is going to happen. Find myself in a situation where they have the only record of my purchase - I have no receipt or anything
Wasn't that woman his PR agent?

I actually got a receipt for mine as my phone was dead and I think the original plan was they would call as soon as the print was ready. But that plan went out the window when it proved impossible to stencil so many. On an aside, it seems the few that were produced have all ended up on everyone's favourite auction website.

Art Car Boot Fair, by 10th Mountain on Jun 18, 2015 19:33:55 GMT 1, I purchased a New York from the stall, and they were saying that most would be sent on? The system seemed well organised, but I don't think Mr Walker had thought it was going to be such a slog, it did not look very friendly, breathing in paint fumes al day. I did not get any receipt, but I can only assume they are beyond reproach and honourable. It was a Boot Fair after all!
