Art Car Boot Fair, by elevenspots on Jul 10, 2017 18:10:16 GMT 1, 2 on the bay now, so that`s 2 out of the 30 supposed "die hard fans" that are actually flipsters - wonder which ones they are in the photo taken of them all I was in the queue on Saturday.
Out of of the first 20, I would say almost all of the twenty knew about art. They may go to shows regularly to flip, but they knew what they where doing and alt had decent art collections.
Within the first 20 people who camped out - 16 where art people and 3 where people who came with 'art people'. 1 person came on her own - with little knowledge and by the end of day, it was clear she was purchasing a print for an 'art person' that arrived much later in the line.
Currently, 2 prints are on sale. One is at a crazy price of 5k and the other 2.5k. If someone offered me this much for the print - I would take it, purely because it's a bit of paper!
There is also a q card - currently at £113 in auction. Come on, it's a Q card - does anyone want to buy mine off me please? Is that Flipping - it's a bloody q card?
I own a decent collection myself - I've sold stuff purchased at art fairs - to pay or reduce the cost of other things I have purchased. So am I one?
What defines a flipper anyway?
Without starting a forum beef - artfan2011 - you are asking someone who went to the boot fair for a pure evil print - offering the £20 more than the original price of the print. Are you not feeding 'said problem'?

Art Car Boot Fair, by Ruggs on Jul 10, 2017 18:35:04 GMT 1, I don't understand why anyone would want to sell a queue card. It's part of the provenance for the print, that and any receipt of sale. In the future If the person selling the card has kept the print then decides to sell any potential buyer would question the whereabouts of the card and could question the authentication of the print. Plain daft to me.

I knew most of the first 20 in the queue and would agree with you. Some of them have massive collections including Richters and original millers. Most of them have some good knowledge about the scene or art world. And some of them are not on here because they feel the place is a bit of a joke.

Maybe I should have gone back for another and tried my luck (I wouldn't- that was a joke!)

My point is everyone who got one on the day was handed a queue card. Its an important piece of card. Definitely worth keeping inmy opinion, as is any receipt. Might not be important now but in years to come it might be. I wouldn't buy one without a queue card and receipt (if they gave you one).

No beef here - I am pleased that after 20+ hours sat on the streets of London you managed to obtain your HM POSTCARD (with deckled edges) - I trust you will enjoy it for years to come.
I do think the way that the "Queue-ers" winged and moaned on social media to AOAPC and ACB was a bit unnecessary, starting there own little numbering system and stating they were genuine fans then surprise surprise they are up on the bay the next day.
Back to the ACB, it does seem that it was generally not a great year, so am pretty pleased I dodged it - I am now sorted on the Pure Evil`s, so thanks for the PM`s, was more than happy to pay a little extra.
Did anyone pick up the James Joyce and could share some images?

Ok so you think the people who started the queuing system are the flippers? How does the few people trying to help everyone else queueing make them a flipper. Would you if you were queuing for 20 hours not wanna fair queue? There were people who wanted a proper queuing system in place so that it would stop a surge of people pushing and it would be fair.
There are people who are going to be selling it and there are plenty who will be putting it on the wall. It's part of the game, are we not use to it now? I don't understand what you are hoping for...that out of the 50 sold that they all went straight on the wall?
But why does someone making money upset you so much?

Seriously you've been banging on about flippers and queuers, ad Naseam. You moan about people introducing queuing systems out of fairness to passionate collectors putting in the work for art that cannot usually afford, and to keep order in a queue, that in the past has become quite ugly. It happened it the Stik queue and someone introduced the ticket system. Then accuse them of being flippers when there is two out of 50 on eBay. Have you ever queued for anything you want? You come over as being quite bitter if its something you didn't get.
I'm Looking forward to seeing your pure evils framed. the ones you've paid some flipper extra to get for you perpetuating and reinforcing something that you seem to be against.

Art Car Boot Fair, by coller on Jul 11, 2017 5:49:14 GMT 1, From their IG - The other prints didn't go to random stall holders. Jumping the queue but people who support us with free artwork all year round. And some sold online too yeah?
I don't get the hate for the queuers; seems like the majority were true fans. Also, even true fans have been known resell when presented with something like $5,000 for a signed postcard. I think only two prints on the bay out of the 30-40 is pretty good, to be honest.
And the postcard print looks great. That said, the amount of money people seem to be paying for it is absolutely absurd in my opinion. It is a postcard print lol. I think people are a little caught up in the moment right now.
Anyway, I'm glad the people who put in the work got the print; the way it should be, in my opinion. That, or maybe lottery. Everything else tends to be unfair.

I emailed Jealous and they said that they held back a few of the Charming Baker prints, sketches were all sold on the day.

Art Car Boot Fair, by nobokov on Jul 11, 2017 7:18:11 GMT 1, Have now seen 4 of the 30 HMs released at the fair, up for sale. One listing description: "Those sell out before the opening at the car art boot sale, some Fliper queuing over 24 hours at the art car boot fair in london last weekend" I guess that seller was one of the 10 online buyers who picked up locally?

Looks like a nice selection.
Was gonna pick up the CB print from Jealous but was told today that I'm out of job in September, better save my pennies for now.
Look out for a sale thread coming soon!

Sorry to hear that. We found out my wife was being made redundant just 2 hours after finding out about our twins. All turns out well though. Chin up and hope it works out

Art Car Boot Fair, by Schrödinger's Chat on Jul 11, 2017 21:25:43 GMT 1, Thanks Coach, RoboJ - you have to remain philosophical about these things.
It's my 40th this weekend so probably a good time to shake s**t up a bit!

Always seems like the worst news at the time but for whatever reasons, it's a sign that you needed change and sure your next job will be even better!! Trust me, I know from experience!!
Have a great 40th....enjoy!
