Thoughts on cleon peterson's market?, by tesla on May 13, 2021 18:12:30 GMT 1, i have three large canvases looking to sell (museum-quality very large...)
but private dealers have been dropping the balls cannot move them and interests on this forum is also not that high...
Maybe cleon's market is not hot at the moment...
want to ask some of your suggestions, should i go sothebys or heritage or sbi or christies to maybe auction them?
sbi in japan will attract a lot of asian heavy spenders but shipping cost is a sucker...
keyboard malfunction so bare with me sorry.
your input will be appreciated if you worked with these auction houses and which one yield better results for cleon's works or know buyers for cleon's original works...

Thoughts on cleon peterson's market?, by Ravnur 2020 on May 13, 2021 18:24:29 GMT 1, I think the much more interesting question is what do you think about Cleon Peterson's art? I like a lot of Cleons work, have got one of his prints that I love. Personally I hope his prices stay just where they are, so artlovers can actually buy his work at cost.

Thoughts on cleon peterson's market?, by nobokov on May 13, 2021 20:33:41 GMT 1, I would just keep them if you're able to or work your way down from the best auction house to the worst to see who accepts the work. He doesn't really seem to have a strong market and his last couple of shows have been lackluster. The color combinations in those shows were pretty bad imo. I think releasing affordable prints monthly hurts the market for his originals, because if you can get the same image for $150, why would you pay thousands? The work is so flat that, while it looks great on instagram, they're just lacking in person even with the large scale.
I'd imagine that women are turned off by the violent imagery so it might be difficult to find married buyers as well. The work is beautiful though, just doesn't appeal to most people like flowers.

Thoughts on cleon peterson's market?, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on May 13, 2021 22:42:19 GMT 1, Personally I would go to the top auction houses as they have more far reaching and richer clients. I don't see why people go to the lower houses that sell posters and tat? and there wouldn't be much difference in fees between top tier and lower tier houses.
A lot of the prints do look the same, I don't own any. I do think though owning a one off original is a different story, think it would look great on the wall..
Good luck with the sale ๐

Thoughts on cleon peterson's market?, by sleepy on May 14, 2021 0:02:22 GMT 1, He had 2 fairly small originals sell at auction in December at Artcurial for close to $10k USD and one went for $17.5k at Christies in August. I think one problem you may be having is with the size. Is that image you attached of the paintings you have? The one on the right is crazy big. I think it would be very hard to find someone with walls big enough for that and that may be part of the problem. I know that the larger the painting, the more the gallery asks for it, but at a certain size, it does become harder to find a buyer who can take them and I think that is why at many shows (not all), the largest paintings are the last ones to sell.
He does have a market though, depending on the piece and price being asked.

Regarding the pieces you are selling, I assume not many collectors here on the forum have this kind of space.

Thoughts on cleon peterson's market?, by Charlie Bronson on May 14, 2021 15:57:40 GMT 1, I love his work and Iโm lucky enough to own a painting. Heโs an amazing guy too. Years ago, I went to his studio to pick my piece up. He gave me a tour of his space; great experience. I think heโs got a loyal following, and he has a knack for picking and choosing the right projects. His Eiffel Tower project was amazing. I think heโll be forever collectible. Imho, as someone else here stated, the sheer size of your pieces may be the issue in finding the right buyer๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ. Iโd keep one if I had those two.
