Also not everyone has a bottomless pit of money so I'm grateful I can buy art from artists in my price range

I emailed Kit Grover about the plate. They are not limited, so no surprises there. They did change the wording in reprints, which I assume means that they fixed the typo. This means that if you have one WITH the typo, they don't make that one anymore.
This means if you have a plate without the typo, it's firmly worth the ยฃ30 you paid for it. If you have one with the typo it's probably worth about the same as Girl with Purple Glitter Balloon.
I would love it if some of the ebay listings for these started saying, "with typo version"

I did the exact same thing, I ordered a plate from Sainsbury Centre (and the other goodies while I was at it) as the typo on the one from the Holburne Museum was bugging me. Let's face it, most people who come over (which is zero at the moment) are not going to read what's on the plate. I'd bet $100 my husband who is home 24/7 these days hasn't even read it. They're going to read the obvious '100% Art' and move on. But I knew and it was enough for me to want to toss it in a drawer. Text based art with grammatical errors or missing words is unforgivable. Unless the error is clearly intentional, which it wasn't in this case. How the hell could a mistake like that slip by everyone who laid an eye on the product before it went into production? It boggles my mind... |
