Framing Canvas, by Ads Army on Jun 11, 2021 11:13:13 GMT 1, Hi All
Just wanted to ask what are peopleโs views on framing canvasses ?
I have a nice Martin Whatson and want to protect from dust and sunlight etc.
I have three options :
1. Leave as is and enjoy in the natural beauty it was supposed to be viewed as;
2. Put in box frame but no glass at front; or
3. Frame completely in box frame with UV 70+ glass ?
Appreciate your views !

Framing Canvas, by rosac on Jun 11, 2021 11:30:26 GMT 1, you've answered you own question. clearly only 1 of your 3 options will protect from dust and sunlight
personally i don't glaze canvasses, even with non reflective. i feel it takes something away from the work. but i understand why people do.

If it's smallish and valuable, then I go for art glass to protect it... But over a certain size or of lower value then a simple tray frame looks great.
