Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by stuey09 on Apr 13, 2008 22:08:04 GMT 1, Lou, my guess is that had FPR been able to post on here, he wouldnt be wasting his time on pleasantries.
I think that rather than lock this thread it should be removed. As mentioned, there has been a defamation of a persons business and he has not had an opportunity for recourse.
That doesn't seem reasonable.

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by fastrack on Apr 13, 2008 22:19:18 GMT 1, clearly reading the forum before you post is not allowed? you've made 700 posts and seemingly know nothing. the clever dumb balance is restored. If I didnt know better I would say this is dear fpr under a pseudonym, 34 posts on your first day, must be some kind of record, yet another talking head. This thread and your imput is not necessary just re-hashing old news, but I guess you get a kick out of that. best thing that could happen now is, it gets locked. welcome back, ha ha .PS I'm flattered you took the time to read through my 700 posts, mind you I wouldnt have thought you had the time what with all the crap you are posting.
i don't need to read your 700 posts. just the last one showed me they'd all be know all know nothing. just like your inaccurate guess.
methinks you get a little nervous around people who have obviously read the forum for a while before they finally get involved - and have a measure of you.
one less person you can throw your weight around with.

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by Imoy-San on Apr 13, 2008 22:19:54 GMT 1, I am sure we've got enough legal people on the forum to answer this question - are these allegations "LIBEL"?
What grounds would FPR have for action, taking into account that he is being refused the opportunity to put his side of the story?
It seems as if people are defaming FPR because they know he is banned.
Is the owner of the forum responsible for all content on the site?

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by AxB on Apr 13, 2008 22:21:39 GMT 1, Morning all. Just wandered if anyone had experienced sellers on either of these two sites, as i just have, who have taken your money and run a flght of stairs? 3000 pounds down the s**tter. These two cold fingers ect! If you loose your faith in love, art and music, the end will be nigh. Thanks all. Lib Sorry for coming in late on this thread. However, I think it is fair to say that the title of the thread is very poorly worded, misleading and borders on libelous. My first impression from reading your title, alibertine, was that Auction Sabatour (and ebay) had scammed you. This made me very cautious in dealing with Auction Sabatour as I have no wish to be ripped off in any of my dealings. It is only through careful reading of further posts that it appears to be a problem with an individual scamming you and not the site. Before I consider using this site, could you please confirm whether it is Auction Sabatour that scammed you or an individual that used the site? Thank you in advance for clarifying this.
i agree the title of this thread is very misleading i have no love for the AS site but the title of this thread implies it was part of something underhand and it quite clearly wasnt / isnt....and lets face it most of the people on here never really read the threads before they form and opinion or run their mouth off so its a pretty inappropriate title....
also as the person who started the thread hasnt seemingly responded to those who made helpful suggestions or named the individuals who ripped him off you really have to wonder about his motivation in starting the thread in the first place...also if there is any truth in his story you have to wonder if someone who allows themselves to be ripped off twice in effectively the same way is really bright enough to be allowed to handle such sums of money in the first place...perhaps his parents should think about giving him his allowance in smaller installments ?

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by Heavyconsumer on Apr 13, 2008 22:22:42 GMT 1, is that question avoided or lie perpertuated? fastrack, there's no way fledgling posters jump into a new forum and get in everyone's faces the way you have, you're not that dumb. You're in an environment you know well, not just from reading. This is not just supposition but common sense. You've interacted with forum members before and have them at a disadvantage, because you've changed your screen name. Pretty cowardly imo.

Good question Yomz,
Check out this link
www.carter-ruck.com/FAQs/Libel%20and%20Slander%20Cases.html
However in summary,
Q4 What must a person or company prove in a libel or slander action? When an individual or company brings a libel or slander action, they must show:
that the words are defamatory of them; that the words would be understood to refer to them by even one other person; and that the words have been published to a third party. A libel claimant does not have to prove that the words are false or to prove that he has in fact suffered any loss. Damage is presumed. A slander claimant will need to prove that the defamatory allegations caused actual damage, unless the slander is within certain categories.
Q5 When are words defamatory? There is no set definition of 'defamatory'. A statement may be considered to be defamatory if it tends to do any one of the following:
lower the claimant in the estimation of right-thinking members of society generally; disparage a claimant in his business, trade, office or profession; expose the claimant to hatred, ridicule or contempt; or cause the claimant to be shunned or avoided. Whether or not a statement has that effect is measured against the standard of the reasonable man generally and not a limited class of people who may have different standards from the majority of members of society.
Common examples of what may be considered defamatory are allegations that suggest a person is:
Immoral Dishonest Corrupt Insolvent or in financial difficulties Incompetent The producer of shoddy goods
I'm not an expert by any means, but I think Ranger may have a case.

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by Heavyconsumer on Apr 13, 2008 22:27:19 GMT 1, I don't agree that AS has in any way been implicated in any wrong-doing here. In fact quite the reverse, as Mark/FPR has asked a member to relay a message offerring an open door to provide any help he can. That's more than ebay do! I think he's presented himself well in the circumstances. The victim knows where to go to find help, what more positive reflection could there be of AS?
This particular vicitm, seems to have shown no common sense in coverring his backside in any way before sending money, it's tough to have too much sympathy really imo. Not that I'd wish ANYONE the same loss!

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by fastrack on Apr 13, 2008 22:29:55 GMT 1, Fastrack is no newbie. All his posts, attitude and comfort level make that very clear. I've been itching to ask who he is, even before catching up on this thread - a person not opposed to pi$$ing others off and probably known for it, but what previous screen name is the question. So, Who are you really Fastrack?" No way are you a new poster on here, that much is very clear. You've clearly been around long before I was (not that that's saying much!!!)
i'm touched that you are so interested. I've been reading the site for a while before I joined.
and if having an opinion is pssing people off, then so be it.

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by Imoy-San on Apr 13, 2008 22:35:23 GMT 1, Too many people seem to think posting on a forum gives them anonymity.
If FPR thinks he is being 'done-over', I'll contact a friend who works at Proboards, and I will draw their attention to the thread. And I suggest people have a good look at the terms and conditions of using this virtual space.

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by Imoy-San on Apr 13, 2008 22:53:52 GMT 1, In hindsight, I should really let you guys defame the poor guy, and see what he does about it. But I would caution against picking on someone when they haven't got a chance to reply.
This is not my fight, but I will stand-up for any of you, if I feel someone is being unfair towards you.
I have decided not to delete my initial response.

I added another part to my post, to clarify things a bit. I see no reason not to contact Proboards, it will help us all know where and when to draw a line under things

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by carlito on Apr 13, 2008 23:22:04 GMT 1, lou I'm not exactly sure what your 'witty' retorts in thread are doing, but its not helping in fixing the central concern being aired ... i.e. that AS is being linked to a scam, and the owner of that site has no recourse here - a little common sense would suggest that is not right....yes?

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by manty on Apr 13, 2008 23:37:00 GMT 1, I find it painful when you hear people get banned because of an opinion or makes a stand for what he/she thinks is right.
Makes a mockery IMO of a public forum
A suggestion would be to just re-open the door to all, and see what happens :-)
Debate is a good thing, if we can just try not to take it all too personally life here would be a little better :-)

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by Zippy on Apr 13, 2008 23:43:20 GMT 1, following on from Manty's post.....
1. FPR must be allowed on here to defend himself. Its unfair for his hard work / efforts to be publically slated without the chance to defend himself and his website. (very good for those that havent visited it). If he's not allowed back in then this should disappear. Its cruel, spineless and derogatory to slate him without giving him the chance to defend himself. 2. I dont think Loucastel is trying to be witty or clever. Sometimes the language barrier can cause some confusion. Lou has always been a top bloke and wouldnt want to see an orginal and knowledgeable forum member get a public slating. 3. There are a lot of kids on here who might tend to believe anything they read here. Guys, please think about what is being accused and dont make a rash decision on what has happened. You have only heard 1 side of the story. Z

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by Heavyconsumer on Apr 13, 2008 23:47:28 GMT 1, Carlito - I don't see AS being linked to any scam by anyone, except those trying to defend it. If someone got ripped off by a "dealer" through AS, and AS is offerring to help sort it out, they are smelling of roses imo.
Everytime a seller on ebay rips off a buyer you don't hear of ebay scamming anyone. Allbeit that they're screwing us all by their incestuous and monopoly-creative relationship with paypal! I think people need to calm down and either offer constructive advice to this "victim" or ignore the thread. Just my opinion of course.
Manty - I agree 100%. There are some very smelly opinions on here at times (some of my own included perhaps), but without contrasting opinions and to some degree values, we would not need or have forums or anything much to discuss in them.

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by Heavyconsumer on Apr 13, 2008 23:49:54 GMT 1, Zippy - what public slating? If you mean Silky accusing "people" of backstabbing OK, but what else? I'm missing a beat here.

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by Zippy on Apr 13, 2008 23:52:48 GMT 1, I mean that the thread started as giving the impression that Auctionsab had ripped someone off.
i must also add that FPR and Hungrig are very much missed on here. Z

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by Heavyconsumer on Apr 13, 2008 23:57:08 GMT 1, Yes, the titles a bit inaccurate agreed. But when reading what the member has written I don't think there's any such accusation. I realise that FPR must have been popular amongst some others here and perhaps less so with others. However I do think that his friends/supporters/empathisers are overcooking this goose big-time. No-one's insulted him or AS directly and it's very clear to all here that AS is not at fault for every user's actions. In fact, as mentioned the only impression I have of FPR from reading this thread is that he cares and wants to help. Hardly defamatory.

Ebay and Auction Sabatour **Member Scam**, by stuey09 on Apr 14, 2008 0:02:08 GMT 1, Carlito - I don't see AS being linked to any scam by anyone, except those trying to defend it.
I might be missing your point here, but if I am correct you state
I don't see AS being linked to any scam by anyone...
Could you just read the title of the thread for a second. Quite often people just skim through the threads and don't bother to read the posts. Either through time constraints, apathy or whatever. If an individual was to read the title of that thread and go no further into it, then they may well link AS with a scam.
