Kawaii art article , by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Jun 18, 2021 4:04:01 GMT 1, Southebys article below.
This type of Kawaii cute art doesn't appeal to me personally.
Not denying it's popular and more and more threads on the forum also for this type or work, so obviously things are getting flipped and money being made presently by forum members 😉
What's people's thoughts? will the kawaii market get bigger or stagnate and prices reduce? Are buyers starting to invest more in this type of art rather than street/urban artists?

Haha okay, no I am not honestly. I have been selling a lot of my prints to concentrate on a few artists I like not in the kawaii type categorary. Just thought I'd post the article get peoples views.

Kawaii art article , by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Jun 18, 2021 6:42:21 GMT 1, I am personally a big fan of Japanese artists, Kawaii and not. Of course the western market is still far away from the asian scene, many times watching in awe or not understanding trends and artists. Surely it's hard to sell asian artists in the west, unless you know/have a selling nice in a particular auction OR the artist becomes mainstream/hype. Who were you looking at in particular?
No not looking to buy, it's only this year I have been noticing the rise and only today read learnt it was called 'kawaii' art through reading the article.
I am realising now how big this sector is but it's not my cup of tea. Good luck though with your collection 👍

Haha described me having to watch in awe. I don’t think there are many western flippers in this market which is a good thing and a bit of a bad thing as well…trying to get some works that have sold out isn’t the easiest.

Kawaii art article , by turntored on Jun 18, 2021 9:10:47 GMT 1, It's a type of art that interests me and I enjoy collecting work from a number of Japanese artists.
It seems to be a huge market that is taking off in the UK with galleries such as Waluso and Moosey selling out print releases on a regular basis.
Will it last? Who knows!
