Invader prints, by healer on Jul 2, 2021 2:51:33 GMT 1, Hey all! I just wanted to ask the community a question. I there a specific printing technique for the prints that invader produces? I see on the Versailles print that it appears that each time is raised. I am wanting to produce art work with the similar effect, I was just wondering how I would produce it/tell the press
Any help would be much appreciated

Invader prints, by avec art on Jul 5, 2021 9:20:22 GMT 1, the embossing needs to be registered in the correct position above the screen print, but its not embossed using screens, but run through a press, normally one which is used for etching and between 'blankets', so not to damage the rollers of the press and to give a consistent pressure.
These are Rochat presses, over 100 years old and still serviced by the Rochat family.

Thankyou for the in-depth reply, is it an expensive process. I kind of boggles my mind the order in which the print would be done

Invader prints, by avec art on Jul 6, 2021 0:12:02 GMT 1, you don't need a specialist die. You can create the embossing plate pretty much from anything so long as it's flat enough and will go through the rollers. Heavyweight paper is suitable and gentle on the paper being printed on. Obviously there are limits as to how much detail is picked up and some designs will work better than others. It would be incredible to see what were used for the Invader prints at POW. There might be a photo knocking around somewhere, but I've never seen one.
As for registration, as with screen printing, there are a number of tricks and methods and it depends upon how precise you want to be.

Invader prints, by avec art on Jul 13, 2021 18:44:46 GMT 1, I'd rather hear some conversation about artistic process than endless price analysis which has driven people away.
If someone was looking to try to recreate these from scratch before even understanding screen printing, they haven't got a chance. It takes years of practice and passion, and often the infrastructure of a relatively large team. This is for printing to a professional standard.
There is nothing I've talked about that if a scammer wanted to learn about can't be learnt in a million places, and it's hardly I'm giving step by step instruction. Ads Army have you any idea how many chemicals are used in this process?

Invader prints, by avec art on Aug 18, 2021 10:12:42 GMT 1, don't worry about the trolls healer and well done for trying to meet or understand some of the challenges of this artistic method as they're not insignificant.
Embossing or de-bossing is not a secret process but a specialist process.

Thankyou @artcave and for taking the time to write such an in-depth reply.
Iโve managed to find a printing house here in New Zealand that can do this for me, but for it to be possible they need to custom make an embossing block out of Magnesium. Itโs quite a process but your words pointed me in the right direction
