For Sale- Martin Whatson "The Cycle" Acrylic #/10, by tschotts on Jul 6, 2021 3:50:22 GMT 1, If you wish to see the piece and have actual interest, feel free to reach out.
The 2 guys and the floor are the screen print. The rest of the piece is original spray paint and posca pens. All 10 are unique.
Other than a large Canvas, I think it would be hard pressed to find a more original hand done piece.

For Sale- Martin Whatson "The Cycle" Acrylic #/10, by Sunny Garcia on Jul 6, 2021 23:25:24 GMT 1, Martin Whatson is one of those "WTF is happening" artists! His OG's that size certainly don't sell for "well over" $20K, and are fairly easy to access...yet his prints sell for a ton!
Very strange situation, as most other artists are the complete opposite - their prints don't even necessarily sell out at source, yet you often can't get a whiff of a canvas...and auction results are through the roof!

For Sale- Martin Whatson "The Cycle" Acrylic #/10, by tab1 on Jul 7, 2021 0:06:23 GMT 1, People get drawn in by the vault sales and assume this frenzy applies to all work.
Amazing how desperate people are for this work that all the work could be sold at release as guys are always contacting the print house on a release yet more of the edition always turns up in vault sales sometimes years later 4x the release prices in some cases Good luck buying Pp and testproofs

I think the anomaly is mostly due to prints and canvases especially at those prices pretty much being two different tiers of collectors. Plenty of people that can swing 2k on a print canโt necessarily afford a 20k canvas. Would have to imagine most collectors that could buy a 20k canvas from Whatson are knowledgeable enough to know thatโs a poor decision as well ๐

For Sale- Martin Whatson "The Cycle" Acrylic #/10, by tschotts on Jul 7, 2021 1:18:08 GMT 1, I never put a price tag up for the "The Cycle" Acrylic #/10. I was saying that canvases of this size are generally a lot of money. A 120cm x 60cm canvas depending on the image, graffiti Etc. would probably run close to my estimate.
WITH THAT SAID, this is not a canvas. I have The Cycle Main and the Cycle Acrylic... I was hopeful to sell 1. I am not a flipper. My walls are filled with framed art. I am a collector. I got this Cycle Acrylic #/10 for a $8500-$9K valuation. I am looking for something in that range.
I hope that I have cleared up any confusion. Martin Whatson prices are what they are. I didn't set the market. I have to pay secondary market prices too. So if I am going to sell one of my favorite pieces... I am going to do it at the proper secondary market price. Heck I spent $900+ framing this "The Cycle" Diptych Acrylic.

Fucking lol at all the salty people in this thread. Nitpicking at every small thing the dude said. While I agree his price point for the canvas he mentioned is off, this acrylic would easily sell for $8,000-9,000.
Pretty sure half of Whatsonโs following on UAA are people who had the opportunity to buy his work for dirt cheap 10 years ago and thought he wasnโt good enough. The other half are โnewโ collectors that have been following him for 3+ years since he started to get really big.
Stop being salty that you missed such a massive opportunity. I missed out on GameStop and you donโt hear me whining like a little bitch.
Also, side note, youโre calling out this guy for flipping a piece thatโs 3+ years old? LOL ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ

You're not a flipper but have two of the same print that were acquired recently on the secondary (you like to delete your posts but they show up on Google, btw) and have one framed and one not framed but they are both for sale because you're not a flipper. I assume you also don't flip concert tickets for Dave Matthews band as well?
Best time to sell whatson works is when vault sales occur, logical purchases diminish when hype is around. Itโs a cycle with the buyers they soon learn the tricks with the marketing around the sales and move on

Same feelings for GameStop btw, look at physical media sales on Xbox ... Gamepass is killing the majority of the physical market in places with good internet. I've got some Blockbuster stock somewhere I'll be happy to sell you for $50 a share.
Thatโs why itโs called an opinion. Why are you even on this thread if you think his work isnโt any good?

I find it funny that youโre browsing a thread under Whatson when you donโt like his work. Is it just to shit on everyone here? Or are you just that salty you missed out on his stuff and canโt flip it. Probably a little of both โ๏ธ

For Sale- Martin Whatson "The Cycle" Acrylic #/10, by bobbyrickie on Jul 9, 2021 15:09:22 GMT 1, 20k canvas, 8.5-9k valuation but selling an acrylic for 10k plus fees?? Worst marketing ever... currently selling a Prius, a Tesla like this goes for 5x....
- Don't mention the canvas at all, makes you sound like an idiot. For valuation - quote 11 or 12k (you are obviously cool with lies) or don't list this at all.
Ask for 10k knowing you'll get 8k... never ask for more than the listed valuation price. Don't brag about your collection and only flash your insta for credibility if you actually collect.
Having one artists work really isn't much of a art collection now is it.... lol More like, I know this artist can and always has made me money - so I'll stick with him to flip.

"This is a rare opportunity to own a 120cm X 60cm Whatson that is almost all hand painted by Martin. If this were a canvas it would sell for well over $20k."
To stick with numbers and actual facts, a newly painted Canvas by Martin, size 80 x 120 cm sold via a gallery (where everything else was prices quite high) for 80 000 NOK on Saturday 3.july 2021. As one can see - lots of tags, larger then your mentioning etc. So yes, let get completely carried away ๐
That is 80 000 NOK, so about 9250 USD. So basically half of 20k ๐
One need to be a bit carefull pulling numbers out of your arse and throw them around like facts...
