Smiling flowers prints have much more value, I think very close to this ebay auction although i would never buy from him... If you look at the prices TM is selling his prints on the Ntwrk platform you will realize that 2k for a Murakami print with smiling Flowers subject is definitely a bargain, especially when it comes to new editions. |

You will see some on Ebay - but not a lot. I think the lottery system might help with that. If anything I thought they would be on ebay already - they have already started to ship out the VIP prints.
I like that this has a COA from absolut. Most Murakami prints do not come with one - so having the extra COA is nice.
The problem is he released way too many signed litho/posters but even those litho/poster edition of 300 will sell in the $2-3k range for a flower.

I have that one (and many other off-sets), and although the team refers to off-sets as 'posters', that doesn't mean they are low quality. Especially the ones like that one with the cold stamp. They are certainly not as nice as the archival pigments/silkscreens, but they are on nice thick stock and wonderfully printed. At least personally, the first time I bought one/saw it in person I was very happy with it and have bought many more since.
I would also not disagree with the argument that Murakami produces a very large amount of editions. But at least in the past few years, a lot of the editions have been his collaboration with Doraemon. Relative to the demand, he's actually not produced that many editions that would be considered his classic 'field of flowers' theme.

Agreed. I have an "archival pigment"/"inkjet" from Murakami and the quality is great. This is printed by Absolut, so could differ slightly than when coming directly from Murakami's shop, but I don't expect much of a difference.
Price is good too for this release - in the past couple years I've seen this print type from source between $1600 - $4k (depending on size).
