Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by iamzero on Jul 17, 2021 8:24:05 GMT 1, I know itโs only coloured dots but I genuinely find these paintings amazing. This is probably the only time Iโve seriously considered buying a Damien Hirst so have entered myself for selectionโฆ not a fucking clue where Iโm gonna find ยฃ2k from. Anyone have a sawn off and a dead presidentโs mask laying idle somewhere?

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by eyectopus on Jul 17, 2021 9:08:35 GMT 1, I really like the AI and Machine Learning aspect to this. It's a great way to demonstrate some of the basic uses of the technology.
At first I thought including rarity metrics was purely a gimmick to create more interest and sales, but I like the idea now. Even if choosing the physical version it has has been scanned, the image processed, analysed and scored so has a link to technology.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by eyectopus on Jul 17, 2021 10:31:58 GMT 1, Some of you asked how we used the IA and Machine Learning: For 'The Currency', the HENI Tech team used machine learning to generate the titles and to determine the rarity of each artwork. We thought we'd put together a thread to go through this in more detail. The OpenAI GPT2 transformer model was fine-tuned on Hirst's favourite song lyrics. We then used the trained model to generate the titles. This was all implemented using the Hugging Face transformers library to train and run the model. In order to identify and score the rarities, we used a residual neural network based on the TResNet architecture. The network was trained for 1 week on our database of millions of images. We use this neural network to extract 2656 neuron activations. These activations are between 0 and infinity and each set of 2656 activations is unique to the artwork. Upon inspection of the neurons, we found that the prominence of each rarity is correlated with one or more neurone attaining a high (or a low) value. We used this to score and rank all the images of 'The Currency' for particular rarities based on the output of a neural network. You can learn more about the rarities on nft.heni.com/rarities. That's interesting what they say but ultimately I'm not sure I agree.ย Each one is an original and, therefore, a unique artwork however much they may look the same. ย If each one is unique, how can some be "more rare" than others? ย
The rarety will be based on attributes of the paintings. Examples are long drips of paint, where only some paintings will have this, or else the most dense spots.
I imagine the description used for future secondary sales will have some creative explanations regarding rarety.

I think rare is the wrong term, they should have used similarity and difference to the rest of the set, this is what they are measuring. The point of this? Who knows, makes for a discussion I guess

More rare wouldnt necessarily mean more valuable. It just adds to the uniqueness of each piece work.
I think rather then an edition it should be viewed as a "cryptocurrency". Rather then owning an edition of the work you own a part of the work. All parts will be equally as valuable (like a bitcoin), apart from the NFT & Paper difference maybe ?. Where with the NFT you are trading the value of the work (more easily tradeable, no auctionhouses, fees etc....) and with the physical work you own the oldschool piece of paper your tenners.

If you hadn't used it for trading before it doesn't matter.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by singerstu on Jul 17, 2021 14:25:55 GMT 1, Apologies if itโs been covered but I donโt have the energy to read through 11 pages of chat that is a foreign language to me. I am too old for this crypto stuff.
So, my question is if I am successful, I have to pay using a Metamask Account. It also indicated I only have a short time to do that. It appears the Metamask Account is a digital wallet to purchase Ethereum. Also, the maximum I can but is ยฃ10,000 worth of ETH.
Does that mean to purchase the Hirst Currency I need to pay with ETH? What is I get more than ยฃ10,000 worth of Currency Prints?
It also says you need to โconnect your digital walletโ How do you do that? What do you connect it to? I am confused can anyone help or point me to a previous reply. Thank you kind forumees.

Does this service/app even work in New York?
You cannot buy or sell any crypto using MetaMask in NY. Has anyone sent or received any NFTs in NY with MetaMask? Does it have any issues in NY?

It's interesting, value for both is created by our imagination. You'd have to think more people believe in the value and longevity of the tangible so the NFT shouldn't be as valuable. Both are scams, but NFT seems the newer more obvious one.

Yep in the end its just one giant pisstake with only one real winner, but thats what makes it great I suppose.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by vvk on Jul 17, 2021 15:37:52 GMT 1, Not sure if it has already been posted.... We classify NFT Power Users as current holders of: Cryptopunks/ HashMasks / Meebits / Bored Ape Yacht Club / Art Blocks. We classify DeFi Native Users as users that have interacted with Uniswap / Metaswap / Sushiswap / Compound / Aave / MakeDAO for those who have just installed metamask, perhaps try connecting to uniswap, metaswap , or sushi swap. not sure if you have to do a trade. but maybe just connecting will show that you have "interacted" with one of those services.
uniswap.org
sushi.com
usually somewhere ( upper right orner of site) there will be a button that says launch app or connect wallet. click it and connect to the wallet.
Always check that you are on eth correct website prior to connecting your wallet. there are spoof sites just waiting to drain your wallet. and once its gone its gone.
a lot of good video tutorials and general info on youtube.
Warning... anyone used to flipping prints might just get addicted to flipping coins! stay strong and HODL

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by vvk on Jul 17, 2021 16:04:59 GMT 1, I think rare is the wrong term, they should have used similarity and difference to the rest of the set, this is what they are measuring. The point of this? Who knows, makes for a discussion I guess "rare" is part of the whole draw, right? I mean why do people spend more money on a numbered and or signed singed edition versus a open and or mass produced offset or ink jet edition.
something that is rare is what we believe is worthy of assigning more value to it. real estate is a great example of this. Land, they are not making anymore of it. here in California water is becoming rare and there for more valuable.

I'm sure they'd pick up on this when linked to billing/shipping information and add you to the blocked list that they actively operate.
Not that it matters, despite the seemingly large quantity, the chance of 1 basket allocation to anyone here is small (when accounting for hirsts allocation, blacklists, VIPs, nft power users, gallery friends, those who cock up or don't understand the registration setup etc)

To buy with them just click Buy on the main screen of your MetaMask wallet, and you will be prompted to follow the procedure for either Apple Pay or Bank Transfer/Debit. Please note depending on your region these solutions may vary. For example, NY and TX are not supported by Wyre/Transak, meaning you won't be able to use them to buy Crypto. Please check all geographical restrictions for Wyre here.โ

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Deleted on Jul 17, 2021 18:30:23 GMT 1, It's interesting, value for both is created by our imagination. You'd have to think more people believe in the value and longevity of the tangible so the NFT shouldn't be as valuable. Both are scams, but NFT seems the newer more obvious one. Yep in the end its just one giant pisstake with only one real winner, but thats what makes it great I suppose.
It is one big study of greed - whatโs the most valuable, NFT or physical and then which one is the rarest (ha ha) etc I love the way it is all being presented.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by vvk on Jul 17, 2021 19:08:55 GMT 1, "rare" is part of the whole draw, right? I mean why do people spend more money on a numbered and or signed singed edition versus a open and or mass produced ofFor Saleet or ink jet edition. something that is rare is what we believe is worthy of assigning more value to it. real estate is a great example of this. Land, they are not making anymore of it. here in California water is becoming rare and there for more valuable. But the important point here is that print number 2,436 is no more (or less) rare than print number 2,437. They're all as rare as each other. while i guess that 125/200 LushSUX print is just as rare as 126 /200 but Its even more rare then the Offset open edition.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by singerstu on Jul 18, 2021 12:56:20 GMT 1, I've just tried to join Metamask. It stresses about keeping a record of your secret recovery code but where the hell is it??? I can't see it when I log in and I've received no e-mails etc. You should have had on screen 12 words numbered 1 - 12 which is your recovery phrase

If youโve just joined MetaMask youโll likely not get anything. They listed who the power users are and they have priority.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by ubl on Jul 18, 2021 15:12:07 GMT 1, You should have had on screen 12 words numbered 1 - 12 which is your recovery phrase Never saw that. I have high security levels in my computer, including the blocking of most pop-ups and deleting of cookies etc. So perhaps it was blocked. I think I will have to give up. I don't want to pay 2K only to find I can't access my NFT anyway. Your 12 words are basically your password, they make you access your wallet from anywhere. Normally it asks after showing your 12 words to input it again in the next step to see whether you wrote it down. If you lost it I would probably create a new wallet and connect the new one to HENI...
