Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by dunkers on Jul 22, 2021 17:48:51 GMT 1, I would not be surprised if he releases many of the 1000 into the secondary market on Heni, especially if the secondary value is higher than the mint price. He could then either cash grab or, given the quantity, influence the secondary prices

He does raise his game to dump his conveyor belt art at the times when there financial bubble has infected our lives . He did well out of it in 2008, even with a side salad of meddling hype opacity. Coming to an eBay site near you soon.

So it’s gone from flipping to selling an email? Oh my days there are some selfish fools on here. Karma karma people

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by damo on Jul 22, 2021 18:30:20 GMT 1, I am fascinated by the rarity scores. Obviously they don't mean anything, any more than an edition number does (although am I was very pleased to end up with a low edition number!) and I am not sure who gets to decide whether a high number in, for example, texture (which would mean it has more than most) is better than a very low number (which means it has less than most). And by having half a dozen characteristics, plus colours, and even words, there will likely be at least one element where you 'score well' for each and every print. People will say it doesn't matter, but there have been bigger arguments on here over far less!
If nothing else the whole exercise and the presentation of it is quite clever imo. And I finally own an NFT (even if it is only going to be for a couple of months prior to exchanging it).

I think that's fair enough. I only applied once, by the way, but I can't see anything wrong in applying multiple times. My gripe is with Heni. When something is heavily oversubscribed they should simply make a rule of one per person, or one offer per person/household. It shouldn't be difficult to do. if some people applied 5 times, and reading here, some applied 50 and 100's of times, is 6x oversubscribed (as they say) really oversubscribed? I expect a lot more emails are about to go out. I haven't had an email so far, but not yet worried...

The "Most particular" item that falls in the most of these categories (7 out of 13) is 9092: Betrayal currency.nft.heni.com/item/9092Good luck to whoever scores it. link the Excel file please

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by robo on Jul 22, 2021 21:33:29 GMT 1, This is why they prioritised NFT-owning buyers. They want to make sure a good proportion burn the physicals. To be fair. They did not prioritize previous NFT owners, nor previous Heni purchasers, nor those that had previously set up a digital wallet on the first batch. The 3 people I personally know that got them had zero of these qualifications.
They specifically did. Did you not look at the application process?

Maybe there wasn’t that many to prioritise then as my bros application was also accepted and he’s had no other prior dealings with them either.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Poster Bob on Jul 22, 2021 22:36:47 GMT 1, You can't make such sweeping generalizations. What very well may have happened is that they have already selected *all* winners and only notified 2k of them. There could be equal proportions of new users in each pool, or, all new users could have been included in the 2k group. We don't know. We do know that they clearly stated that they are giving priority status to certain people. The experience of 3 people does not negate that.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Deleted on Jul 22, 2021 23:30:00 GMT 1, Of course he's done it to make money - that's his business - making art to sell. But he's put a lot of thought and effort into it - he must have been working on this for years. The pieces of art themselves look quite cool as well. If I had the time to have looked into it a bit more and learnt more about the effort he had gone to such as the paper used, the hologram, the micro dot, just cool stuff I would have been in. Sod the NFT I'd have that piece of art on my wall - it's a bit of a talking piece as opposed to your usual release. People spend more than $2k on a print (I recently did) so for an original piece of art I think it was a fair price. Will it make you money? who knows - but I don't think anyone will loose their money. And they have a cool piece of art to enjoy. It looks like something I saw hanging on my friend's fridge that his 5 year old made with colored markers in art class.
Yawn. We get it.

If it didn’t have some glitter, a pasta shelll and the 5 back to front then it was probably a fake.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by thos on Jul 23, 2021 2:38:36 GMT 1, you will also need to subtract the 1,000 being kept by Hirst, since those are also "rare" as they are not currently for sale. The 1000 kept are also random I think. If not, likely it’s 4 boxes (they are 250 each) so a pretty wide numbering. Not sure what he/they will do with them but they confirmed they will be or paper or nft only and will be destroyed with the others. I was thinking about this a bit today. I'm not sure why he would keep them in paper form. If he likes how they look, he can always make more for himself (outside this edition). Maybe he'd keep one physical artwork as a souvenir. "Ah yes, I remember that. I made $20 mil. with that project."

Some could be kept for future sales and also for gifts to friends and family and to some collectors. Some probably for archives also.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by vvk on Jul 23, 2021 16:52:09 GMT 1, Let's all remember that NFTs also provide a % back to the artist everytime the NFT is sold not entirely true. when you make one you have the option to opt in future sales royalties or not and usually upoi can set the % you would like of future sales as well. which i think is why alot of artist like the nft space. so many artist sell their pcs low only to see them resell later fo 100X wishing they got a cut out of it. Now with this technology they can. and good for them.
NFT's... its the art that keeps paying!

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Jules Leotard on Jul 23, 2021 17:08:29 GMT 1, Let's all remember that NFTs also provide a % back to the artist everytime the NFT is sold... Is Damien becoming the Jeff Bezos of the art world? LOL I go for paper.... He's entitled to a % every time the physical copies are resold at auction too per the Artist's Resale Rights:
Are you eligible?
Are you a visual artist whose artwork is resold through galleries, auction houses or art dealers? Does your work sell for €1000 or more? Are you a UK national, or a national of a country in the European Economic Area (EEA)?
If you answered yes to all three questions, you may be entitled to resale royalties.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Jules Leotard on Jul 23, 2021 17:17:37 GMT 1, I think DH wanted to take a large stake in crypto and consulted with his bankers and they said, "...instead of converting your own cash and paying transaction fees, etc. why don't you force people to pay you in crypto..." and he had a 'voila' moment as to what to do with his 2016 creation of 10,000 pieces.
If he had sold these for BTC in 2016 when he produced them, he'd now be sitting on over 1 Billion GBP of Bitcoins.
I think the NFT aspect of this sale is gimmicky. The 'physical' copy of the art ensures that, if NFTs get exposed as a fraud, he has kept himself clear of the appearance of it and it also makes it looks like he is embracing this version of the technological future. Two years seems like plenty of time to figure out whether NFTs will sink or swim.

Another round of emails went out just now. I got an email this round, very happy here
