Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by surf101 on Oct 21, 2022 10:41:09 GMT 1, There's Zero real papertrail other than one that's talked up out of nothing. I don't think many are going to question the authenticity with all the antiCF measures on the paintings, given how quickly these are changing hands, I still haven't spotted any wobbly ones that don't hit all of these points. What do you mean? Obviously there is a paper trail. The original invoice, the burn email and the shipping of the works. What else would you like to see? There was no original invoice, there was a receipt for an 'NFT' that is what was purchased not a painting. No documentation for the paintings were given. Emails are not original documents and are printed under no authority from the publishing company. 'Look I' received an email is not the same as a hard document. They are and could be interpreted as completed unrelated. There is nothing to say a painting is not a copy - other than its likeness and the antiCF marks.

in this instance it looks like an NFT sticker-bomb, so probably the one they own. Similar to apes and punks dropping their own PFPs as stickers and covering the town

The stickers would have been made by someone who has the NFT as #8956 is still an NFT according to Heni.
It has made the Discord chat, so keep a look out there. 😉

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by robo on Oct 30, 2022 21:05:04 GMT 1, Regarding authenticity these were made as “currency” and of course unlike art, currency doesn’t have provenance. They have numerous security measures built in though which should make them very difficult to fake.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by hopperdj on Nov 7, 2022 23:19:52 GMT 1, Last 2 physical sales closer to £10k not including seller fees. Definitely more positivity around physical with crypto and NFTs in a bear market. Only takes one mention of utility or early access to new DH work for NFT to rise quickly.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by My Name is Frank on Nov 8, 2022 10:10:59 GMT 1, I think the NFT's are doing a little better than I thought they would. The steady continuing drip of sales has bench marked their value and realistically, you'll be able to swap one for 4-5 eth with someone and no one will feel like they are missing out.
Also as hopper says, plenty of room for stunt spikes. I just wonder whether they actually would need to recourse to anything like that though as they are holding well standing alone on their merit of being NFT currencies.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by robo on Nov 8, 2022 20:07:32 GMT 1, IMHO both will retain value long term as both are historical artworks that form part of a major piece.I think as knowledge and understanding of NFTs grow, and more collectors understand how to trade them, the value will continue to grow there. Of course there will always be discrepancy, and the market may always favour the physicals, but the nfts aren’t going anywhere.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Jonas B on Nov 8, 2022 22:34:44 GMT 1, I reckon there’s too many of both NFTs and physicals to ever have any real value. I also think the bigger art world thinks the project is nothing more than a bit of fun and won’t ever be considered particularly historical.

There were 7,000+ Virtues produced and these are now selling for £15k and not even considered as originals. I am sure The Currency (physical and NFT) will do just fine in the long term.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by My Name is Frank on Nov 9, 2022 9:29:44 GMT 1, Well unless I am reading it wrong, the drop in computer coins (not sure how you group them all in one word) this last 24 hours has shown the true value of these currency, any eth priced offers have been pulled, you can only buy in Dai.
A protection hedge against computer coin bumps? I cant believe that within 24 hours of saying it, a currency holder does not want your eth at 4-5 and instead pegs onto dai. Be interesting to see if any Dai sales go through to mark that the currency is a safe haven, or if the dai offerings are forced back to eth listings.

The currency would have bombed if the final numbers tilted too far either way. if these idiots had any common sense there would be little to no Currency nfts remaining, but they don't. How you take that depends on your point of view.

Many have only held onto the NFT in the hope that it will pay rewards in the long term by getting preferential treatment and they see it as a Heni membership card.
Fair play to Heni in building this community of followers though. It amuses me as some of the following is cult like.

Well the allocation of these unique prints and the launch of the veils next week will no doubt reveal the utility (or not) of keeping the NFT.

The reality is roughly 2/3rds of NFTs in public hands were burned for physicals

He might have saved the painting, but nothing much can save the nft There's a million things that can be done to rapidly increase the value of the NFT's. Hirst has dropped the ball on this in my eyes but since he holds 1000 of them and receives a percentage of all future transactions it is only in his best interest to boost them up. The currency unique prints should have only been available to NFT holders it was the only logical thing to do for the 'experiment'. It should be a token to entry and act as a utility. I think we can all agree it's worthless as a piece of art.

I personally would have done prints of all the OG's - same size. Do a release of 1000 portfolios of 10 prints (1-10, 11-20 etc). Watch them exchange hands like trading cards.

It is useful for the announcements section and amusing how some NFT holders think they should be treated like a board of directors.
