Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by vvk on Jul 26, 2021 23:20:42 GMT 1, looking at these photos of the ones you all got. Im starting to think that you can figure out the paint dab order from the drips, overlaps and splatters on how these were made I m looking forward to one of you crafty computer guys to release the first animated gif recreating the way your piece was made.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by larryforsyth on Jul 26, 2021 23:53:45 GMT 1, It’s been fascinating reading up on all the tech and I can’t wait to see what happens next. If you’re using the MetaMask app, is it possible to move the NFT to a ledger Nano X without connecting to a PC/Mac?

Do you go to a great restaurant because of the line cook or the Chef I wonder 🤔

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Atelier on Jul 27, 2021 1:19:12 GMT 1, What if some currency owners will pay to have the giant NFT file beautifully printed at well regarded printers to a large scale, then trade in the NFT for the physical version and sell both together or keep one and sell the other? Could present a different paradigm of buying / selling options. I've not been feeling the NFT thing previously but this release does present an interesting experiment that feels kinda Banksy-esque. Wonder if Banksy will have a K Foundation style physical v digital NFT concept up his sleeve? Feels like a space he could release something cool. He's already printed fake money after all. Regarding Banksy, I think releasing an NFT, however tempting, would damage his integrity due to their environmental impact and would rather undermine some of his other works e.g. Good point! Perhaps more an anti-NFT concept. It's contentious how great some of his projects are for the environment - Dismaland for instance.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by jimmyjam on Jul 27, 2021 7:41:02 GMT 1, Most people don't understand how pictures work . Resolution and megapixels count, but there is a point where the screen exceeds the original image and you lose details . Heni said the images of the NFT will be 10x 3000px - so, 30k pixels? I am pretty sure it will look still well on a 4k/UHD/8k tv screen. My concern is the ratio. The painting is 30x20cm, so a 3:2, while TVs are 16:9. As previously said for NFTs, it's ridiculous to show them on a TV (16:9), on an ipad (4:3). Same as vertical NFTs or squared NFTs. Paper, you can frame it as you want.
With one of those top cameras it can easily handle a large screen with perfect quality. They handle 4-8k large sporting digital billboards in perfect quality. Again photos on website are usually compressed. You need to use the real file which I don’t know what that is.
These types of cameras and their MP are true MP not like on a iPhone. It absolute makes a HUGE difference having resolution and megapixels.
I think you are talking about movies and TV - then its different than photography. That issue is from frame rate.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Dubman on Jul 27, 2021 8:37:51 GMT 1, So, I have tested the high res image (not the NFT image) on a 16:9 tv. The 3:2 ratio does not work well with a 16:9 in my opinion... only if I zoom in... but this way I loose dots. Physical artwork it is. I like the idea of getting a high res image / photo printed out of the front and back of the DH piece, getting it framed and hung and also keeping the NFT - best of both worlds?
Ive had exceptional copies of some of my pieces made with the original going into storage.

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by Dahmer on Jul 27, 2021 8:58:37 GMT 1, I'm guessing Heni is using either Phase One backs for Hasselblad's to photograph these and also their giclee prints. The photos on the site are very detailed and look great on a large screen. They are also compressed for the site so it's not even the largest photo files. I really wonder what type of file/nft you get. Those new backs can shoot up to 150 MP or more: photography.phaseone.com/xf-camera-system/Commercial photographers use them for billboard ads and whatnot. The camera backs themselves are very, very expensive. It's about 50k USD for the camera/back. You kind of need one though in commercial photography. If they used one of those cameras and give you a tiff file or large file you can blow these up HUGE with amazing detail. It depends on the file.
Never used a Phaseone but I was always intrigued because it’s what Lachapelle has used for years, but we had a H4D at uni that was fun to play with and I’ve borrowed a Leica S2 for the afternoon before, but each individual photo was something like 150mb each. I’m not sure it’s imperative for a project like this. A 5d is more than capable of doing a decent job here.

Thanks, this is helpful. Especially this, from the sending/transferring link:
Add the token to your MetaMask wallet. We recommend you do so on the MetaMask mobile app, because NFTs are not currently visible on the browser extension
I wonder how much panic will ensue on or after July 29th amongst people who will quite reasonably conclude their NFT has gone astray when in fact they’re using a browser extension in which it will never appear.
I predict that Heni will be busy.

I know that.
You’re completely missing the point, which is that the multitudes of uninitiated taking part in this experiment will likely be completely unaware that their NFT will never appear in the mm browser extension, and that they will need to use the mobile app in order to see it.

My understanding is that metamask is just a wallet. You can see its public address in the details. You can send the token from one wallet to another, but gas fee applies

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by steflili on Jul 27, 2021 10:54:43 GMT 1, wondering how taxes work on these? I imagine selling a physical work on a forum is fine as long as it's not your everyday job. But what about NFT's as it's only crypto. You would have to sell it first as eth then exchange from eth to fiat, then to your account. Will it be considered then as just stocks for taxes (30% here ?

Damien Hirst NFT "The Currency", by whatsthestory on Jul 27, 2021 11:13:53 GMT 1, I actually have no clue how it works, but I saw discussions on here about a seed phrase and did some googling while at a bar. Does anyone that uses metamask have the steps to transfer the NFT out of metamask since the user has to wait two months before being able to exchange for physical? I wouldn't be comfortable letting something sit in account that has no recovery option if something is moved and doesn't support any multifactor authentication. Hang on a minute. You say you don't use metamask. Then you ask for people's seed phrase. And now you are asking how to transfer NFTs out of matamask. Hmmm. How many alarm bells am I hearing right now? Hadn't spotted their seed phrase thread until now, what a complete and utter ****
