My guess is the title. I know I was reluctant to purchase since it would be randomly selected for me.
They do all look the same so the title for me was important.

I suspect most people still do. I think this project is brilliant and fascinating, but it doesn't make me want more NFTs or want to keep this one as an NFT. But it's definitely interesting to watch.

Fully expect to not sell and receive physical copy when available.

The site allows people to place offers - putting a crazy high price ensures your piece will appear at or near the top of the listings when they’re sorted by price descending. That guarantees visibility, which is critical - I mean, who’s going to even see a piece buried in the middle of hundreds of virtually identical others. The only real strategies are price it high or price it low.
I guess the hope is to attract a decent offer from someone who sees the piece and likes the title. Though in reality the offers seem no better at the expensive end to the cheap end. I suppose that’s to be expected - if your asking price is 8 million, people are probably going to hesitate to offer you a couple of thousand.

Pretty odd that this fairly basic one supposedly sold for $19,900. I would have figured that the few ones with Tags and/or are in the top 1% in multiple categories (drips, weight, etc) would have demanded the highest prices.

I guess, though I don't find "He always looked at me, made me watch" to be that catchy. "Silver", which sold for about the same price, is a different story.
Maybe the first one was part of the 1k Hirst held aside, possibly to pump up the market with some crazy outlier sales results.
