You are right, but to me this whole scheme devised by Hirst is part of the art - a bit like Banksyโs shredder stunt as others have alluded to.
So if you are left owning one NFT out of, say, 500 left after 9,500 other people have opted for the physical work, you hold a slightly more interesting (one might say) element of the broader artwork, which will have a bit more of a story behind it. Not sought after for scarcity alone, but for being more inherently linked with the concept underlying the artwork. Whilst I appreciate its not the most technical and refined I do really like the image. Iโm certainly not like the large number of people here and have large amounts of disposable income to be spending. If I was to purchase This would be the most expensive piece I own.
Iโve always liked his dot paintings. I like the playful and simple nature of them. Also the fact itโs a painting with the interactive and destructive NFT element and not a print really interests me. ๐๐ป

I've never understood the appeal of NFTs. One day, people will wake up and realise their collection of unique NFTs are completely worthless.

I personally just dont get the same gratification of looking at it, it's not the same as a physical original to me, especially when theres already hi-res images of them all on the heni site... what exactly is it you end up owning here? |

Still not down with digital as you could say fuck having a 250 GTO to drive and gawk at in your garage, instead have a digital version thatโs worth the same amount? Where does it stop? It's an interesting thought isn't it, clearly when someone buys a print to instantly flip they are not interested in the image or framing it, so it is in a sense much more like a currency for trading or perhaps more similar to a share or an option, and actually having a piece of paper that you need to handle carefully and store safely etc. Is a bigger pain in the backside then storing a piece of code/block chain etc.
If you love art for the textures and seeing it in the flesh and having it on a wall to view at your leisure the relationship is completely different.
