Shipping advice, by We Have Your Prints on Jul 23, 2021 15:34:57 GMT 1, For rolled I use TNT direct.tnt.co.uk/ A word of caution though Art is not insured despite the website asking you to insure your goods.
If you have a Mailboxes near you they will insure it if they pack it www.mbe.co.uk/
Don't use any Royal Mail service as they wipe their hands of any responsibility once the goods have left the UK.

Shipping advice, by Acme Thunderer on Jul 23, 2021 16:47:11 GMT 1, Whatever you do, make sure the goods are described as:
Original Art - Signed by [insert artist]
Donโt try to dodge getting out of taxes by marking it as a gift. If damaged or lost it may make it harder to prove the price. The courier might also charge 20% customs fees to start off with, but you can dispute before delivery. Just this week I had an expensive print from Norway via DHL which was charged 20% customs fees and DHL changed it to 5% very quickly.

Cheers in advance Get in contact with flight logistics, they will be able to offer you the best options. Flight Logistics are also great to ship flat rare artwork or canvases. They sent a wooden crate with a flat 60cm x 60cm print from UK to US for just over ยฃ500 (all insured + collect from your home + will do packing for you and send photos).

Shipping advice, by John The Badgers on Jul 23, 2021 18:39:56 GMT 1, If its any help, I deal with shipping items at work, not art related.
I agree above that TNT/Fedex very good, but have also found DPD very reasonable and good to the EU from the UK?
When you book on-line with them, you have to create a Commercial Invoice which is pretty painless, you have the option to mark as a gift. Tracking etc all very slick, will send notifications on delivery with an ETA.
Have sent a couple of items to members on here recently in the EU, although a bit slower than TNT, certainly cheaper, and all went well.

If it's value is over ยฃ39 then it doesn't make any difference if it is labelled as a gift or not. They will still slap on VAT regardless. I prefer not to label as a gift to prove value (with invoice) if ever needed. Each to their own.

Shipping advice, by GMA on Jul 26, 2021 15:23:27 GMT 1, I recently posted off 4 different prints to 4 different people and used Royal Mail Special Delivery. All tracked and signed, everything turned up in perfect condition, those were reports from the new owners of some. One of which even went to France.
Think I'd give the buyers the choice, I asked what they'd be happy to use and all were happy to use Royal Mail. I tend to use FL as standard but give them the choice. The one to France took about 5 days.
