Atelier Kismet collaborated with DFace (Dean Stockton), one of UKโs most proli๏ฌc Urban Contemporary artists. Entitled, Death & Glory, this collaborative piece represents the third iteration of the original D*Face artwork under the same title. Now released in miniature, the piece features a hidden incense burner chamber inside the ceramic model, bringing the sculpture to life as it smokes and fumes with the incense of choice.
The sculpture represents a signi๏ฌcant landmark in D*Faceโs career as it was the opening statement to his ๏ฌrst solo show Death & Glory, StolenSpace Gallery, London (2006). Featuring a police car smashed under the weight of the iconic D*Dog, the work re๏ฌects on the recklessness of the police force actions in law enforcement and is a statement of the artistโs reaction against such conduct.
โDeath and Gloryโ sculpture is an edition of 75 with measurements as the following:
D*Dog:
Ceramic with Platinum Coating
19 cm x 11 cm x 12.5 cm
Police Car:
Glazed and Hand Decorated Ceramic
24 cm x 10 cm; height: 7.5 cm
Box:
28.6 cm x 27.6 cm; height: 21.2 cm

I collect D*Face as best I can. I enjoy the fact that quite a bit of art I have purchased has risen in value and/or risen dramatically but I would (for the most part) never sell what I own. I bought it for me to enjoy.
Anyway, it is hard to know who or what will be popular one day but if D*Face becomes more sought after one day (never know!) I am sure the other 74 people who purchased this would be happy that they did.
The wood box it came in alone was beautiful. I was not thrilled about the price but I love D*Faceโs work and I love burning incense. My office is littered with art and this incense burner is probably the coolest part because it is so different.
