Invader still in plastic, by keeb25 on Sept 24, 2021 13:33:20 GMT 1, Hi All,
I am a new collector of an invader! Finally! Very late to the show..but non the less, extremely happy!
I have a question which I believe has popped up a few times on this forum, however I would love to get your opinions in 2021. The invader I got has static/packaging on the outside, with a seal at the back which I am unsure about opening because I dont want to de-value the product in the long term. I am struggling with the framing at the moment because of this. I have looked at an acrylic box/standing for the piece. Personally I would like to rip it open and frame it as it should be...but obviously I dont want to de-value something I spent a lot of money on.
Let me know your thoughts!
Keeb

Invader still in plastic, by Monkey on Sept 24, 2021 14:26:30 GMT 1, Hey there Congrats for acquiring a kit and welcome to the club From what I understand, if you bought it from an auction house, it probably has cost you a fair amount of money and that shows that you have a lot of dedication to the artist work Considering this, the least you can do is open it and enjoy your new and highly desired piece of art Frame it or box it (depending which one it is) and enjoy it every single day !!! I opened all of mines and they are all boxed and I'm quite happy with that
Regarding value: yes opening it will decrease its immediate value but Invader prices are increasing every months. In the long term, you'd probably reach the value you paid for anyway Record yourself while opening it, make sure not to tear the signed / numbered instructions when opening it, keep the full antistatic bag along (put it in the bow behind the kit). That will give some guarantee if you decide to sell it one day

Invader still in plastic, by Arty Farty 15 on Sept 24, 2021 14:39:54 GMT 1, Love it when people open these, as it means my sealed ones become that little bit more scarce.
Even for the most recent LA kit, a lot of the ones I’ve seen for sale have been opened and framed. If you were going to paper hands it so soon why on earth would you have opened it?

Invader still in plastic, by Lroy on Sept 24, 2021 20:01:51 GMT 1, This question taht you are asking is a bit naïve or weird ( or you don't care about your kit ) , as a kit opened looses around 20/30 % ot its value : packaging and signature is a part of the " deal " ...
well, now you do what you want, but this question is already asked every 3 months on here ahahah

Completely agree the packaging, instructions, signature (if signed edition) are an important aspect of the art (I’ve been framing mine on the reverse). But a nicely framed kit at auction will perform just as well. IMO

Yes another point of view :-) I just don’t understand why Invader cares so much about the packaging so… But a nice one on the wall could be great ! :-)

It won't be never the same, with Invader COA or not What is the real problem with an unopened Invader ?! We have so many things on the walls. What about prints still in tubes under the bed ?

Prints or paintings are not sold in a sealed static bag that hide the artwork. Most of here are collectors, we like the artworks of course but there is also a financial question like Lroy said or at least you are questionning yourself : By openning the bag, will i degrading the artwork? But i totally understand lucky peoples who own Invader kit and put their behind a beautiful frame on the wall. Each to their own at last. And to answer to your question, yes a have copies of prints on my wall. I can’t afford the Pejac prints so i bought the postcards. They are great.
Have a nice week end all

Anyway, just saying about opened or unopened : the best Invader alias are the unic pieces with beautiful, classy, and large tiles.. Real gems...
I did not saw in real ( opened ) the last ones that he made, but well I have two ( i have had 2, still gor one) , I think that the quality is not the same than the unic ones... They look more shinny and are better in real ( i only had a D600 then )... Anyway, Just my advise ( I took these photos during La Generale 2011 exhibition, in front of Le Bataclan, and includes some from Lefeuvre gallery )... You can feel the love for them ...
* my dream was to get the sign road ( this is an edition of 10 and it was 10 k then )...

Being a collector of urban and contemporary art for around 15 years now, its nice to see theres actually a whole forum for people like us. All found from googling "how to frame sealed invader"
I think to be honest, I wont be opening it. For now, I am going to frame in an acrylic casing. I have attached 2 designs below. The shelf inside the box is my favourite for now...
Opinions?
