Visit PARIS ๐ซ๐ท France Street Art, Galleries, Events, by rosh on Dec 3, 2013 11:50:17 GMT 1, If you want to see real street-art, go to the quartier "La butte aux cailles" ! There is also lot of galeries like Perrotin, Magda Danysz, Lefeuvre, Maquis-Art, Itinerance & Opera and others showing urban art.
The tower exhibition was only open for one month :/

IMO and it is just my opinion, it has the feel of real Paris. The last couple of times I've stayed there it has not been flooded by tourists and has been very pleasant. Just my experience.
Perhaps you have some better suggestions.

Visit PARIS ๐ซ๐ท France Street Art, Galleries, Events, by sakyamuni on Dec 3, 2013 15:15:21 GMT 1, I don't deny that this is a nice area, one of the older parts of Paris, so walking around is lovely. But I am not really sure of what you mean by real Paris? Real like in old postcards? Paris has a lot of different areas and atmosphere, and none is more "real Paris" than any other. This area of Le Marais has been turned in the past 10/15 years in a gentrified Disneyland, it looks nice but for most of the local people this is just not what we call real Paris. Just one side of it.

You had to wait for almost a whole day (or half a night) to get in. We were there when it was still open and didn't even try to enter the exhibition.

Visit PARIS ๐ซ๐ท France Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Someones Brain on Dec 3, 2013 15:41:36 GMT 1, We also liked the area saint german des pres. There are a lot of galleries around rue de seine too. A lot of street art can be found north/northeast of rue Oberkampf into the Belleville area. And you'll find space invader pieces all over the city. Keep your eyes open and have fun in Paris.

Visit PARIS ๐ซ๐ท France Street Art, Galleries, Events, by sakyamuni on Dec 3, 2013 16:07:24 GMT 1, Come on guys, paris is not just saint germain and le marais...the area around rue Daguerre/rue gassendi, close to Cimetiere de Montparnasse is really nice, lively and friendly and much less "amelie poulain".... Try also les Buttes chaumont, the area around botzaris, or around rue de charonne...

Christmas market is not a tradition in Paris, unlike Strasbourg. They now organize some but it is really very bad. The local tradition is more to walk around boulevard Haussmann and look at window display at galleries Lafayette or Printemps, and this is really nice! Real Paris for sure this time

Pay the extra to walk up the dome. You can get some great photos looking out on your way up the narrow steps. (It will be cold.)

Hope you have a great visit. I loved the city! The natives were VERY nice, as well!

Visit PARIS ๐ซ๐ท France Street Art, Galleries, Events, by gatecrasher on Dec 3, 2013 20:01:19 GMT 1, Firstly I love Paris, I've been there twice in the last couple of months and have another trip planned for Feb.
But I thought I'd give you a heads up on the scams I've seen recently.
Champs-Elysรฉes area - Someone will approach you like they've just found a gold wedding ring and is it yours .. obviously you then give them a reward for the copper ring they just gave you. Hang around long enough and you'll be approached 3 times in 30 mins.
Also the "Deaf person petition" .. groups of "deaf" young girls asking you to sign something ... make a donation of minimum 10 euros and the dip your purse/wallet when you get it out. They like to group around women to intimidate them for a donation.
Sacrรฉ Cลur - on the steps up to it. Groups of young black men trying to tie bits of "happy" string round your wrist .. and then want money. Keep you hands away from them and just say no. There's no point being polite, they don't take a gentle no for an answer.
Paris railway station to Charles de Gaule airport - You dont have the exact money for the train but some kind person will buy you ticket. You give them the cash but when you get to CDG and try and use the ticket it doesn't work. Its a 100 euro fine too if you don't have a valid ticket.
Anywhere on the Metro - It gets really busy and crowded and pickpockets are rife. Don't get your wallet/purse out .. buy a 10 ticket "book" of tickets and just pull them out. Keep your stuff in front of you.
Pretty normal advice for any city really .. I've always found the Parisians helpful and friendly but always assume that if it feels wrong then it's probably a scam.

And when you go to a bar, don't put your cellphone on the table, young rom's come with a petition, they bring you the petition and they take the opportunity to steal it. Haha, I love Paris..
In the 13rd arrondissement, there is big murals of C215, INTI, Shepard Fairey and many others, commissioned by Itinerance Gallery and Mairie du 13รจme. There is also a big sticking by JR at the Bibliothรจque Nationale de France. You can see all this mural taking the line 6, aerian metro. You will also see the building of la Tour 13. It's closed But the building is here, painted on all the faces with a big orange splash on the top.
If you have an iPhone or Android, you can download app "My Paris Street-Art".
Have a good trip!

Keep your stuff in front of you. Pretty normal advice for any city really .. I've always found the Parisians helpful and friendly but always assume that if it feels wrong then it's probably a scam. Everything is said! This is way Parisians are scared.
