Import tax from Denmark, by Adam London on Oct 7, 2021 7:59:03 GMT 1, I recently bought some stuff from the Shrigley shop- I wonder what the official rules are on tax, do we have to pay VAT on fine/original art? From the US I know it is 5% as I have done it before.

Import tax from Denmark, by ajr on Oct 7, 2021 8:27:23 GMT 1, If you are lucky, it gets through customs with no vat and duties. Otherwise they will most likely charge 20% and then you will have to claim back from HMRC so that you pay only 5%. This applies to hand produced prints/originals.

Import tax from Denmark, by Adam London on Oct 7, 2021 8:58:48 GMT 1, Right, so if I arrange to collect from Jealous there are no duties, I will contact them. What about the Galleri Wallner, like the seal . are there similar arrangements?

Import tax from Denmark, by Adam London on Oct 7, 2021 10:11:57 GMT 1, I had this reply:
The prints are made in the UK but whether you pay import fees depends where your print is being shipped from.
The racoon and the seal are both printed in the UK and will be shipped to UK customers from within the UK, so they don’t have to pay import fees. Naturally it doesn’t make sense to transport the prints from London to Copenhagen to send them back to London again.
But do be aware this might not be the arrangement for every work every time, but in the case of the racoon and seal, it is
Best wishes from
Shrig Shop
