I recently acquired a canvas without any indication of who the artist is. Can any of you out there perhaps help identify who the artist may be? I know it's a long shot but thought here would be the place to work it out.

Unless anyone else on hear recognises the artist its gonna be a tough nut to crack.

Maybe you could get in touch with his representatives and send some pics to see if it is indeed one of his pieces? I'm guessing you have already asked the previous owner where he might have bought the piece. Knowing where it was purchased would definitely help narrowing down your search. Anyhow, good luck on your quest!

It is the original painting of a work that was scanned into a well known print. I've seen other unsigned works by him too. In fact, looking round the living room now at twenty odd original artworks, the visibly singed pieces are in a very small minority. I suspect that with unique, original art, unlike editioned pieces, the artist's style is often enough provenance. That said, IIRC plenty are signed on the reverse...
Back on topic, this painting certainly looks like Dran although if it is, and given its relative crudeness, it looks like quite an early piece. I like it.

OP might have better luck asking and reaching out to DMV or members rather than Dran tbh.
