I also always send every piece, without exception, to Foley Schalkx Conservation for them to look at and treat as appropriately before re/framing. They are masters at the art of conservation and preservation.

Artwork can look fine to the naked eye but I have found that this extra step saves problems in the future and can significantly improve the appearance of a piece. Worth every penny!

This is very good advice. I personally donโt use a conservation specialist routinely, but a condition report is useful. For more expensive works - then I would say essential.
