Cheapest way to own a genuine banksy print, by The Italian One on Dec 20, 2021 11:12:27 GMT 1, My suggestion is to buy from reputable seller or gallery, pay the market valuation and don't look for the cheapest, ask for COA.

Cheapest way to own a genuine banksy print, by Happy Shopper on Dec 20, 2021 11:43:04 GMT 1, I think this website may be useful. www.banksy-value.com/
Check the average recent prices for the prints you like, then see if you can find one at that price, and watch some auctions.
If they're out of your budget, then maybe look at the official posters, welcome mat, large stickers, etc.

Cheapest way to own a genuine banksy print, by JFCC on Dec 20, 2021 15:35:37 GMT 1, There is lots of good advice so far, my observations are its a great idea to buy a print and here are my thoughts
- Don't buy the cheapest
- Buy a print with a COA from Pest Control (no other COA is worth the paper its written on)
- Buy from a reputable gallery unless you are totally confident of going to an auction
- Negotiate hard with a gallery and reference BanksyValue to get a view what it cost, they will all discount
- Typically buying from a Gallery will take 5 or so years for a print to be worth what you paid for it (dealers margin) as a general rule of thumb
- An auction will get you the best price if you do the research and you are confident but study before you go and be prepared to miss out
- Do not be afraid to ask for a condition report and ask them to explain it to you, especially around the mountings. View a print physically and out of the frame wherever possible
- Ask if it has been restored, which although not a problem is worth knowing
- Get the print reframed with UV protective glass and consider sending to get restored (cleaned) before framing
- If you can get a signed print that will always be the best option
- Buy something from a popular range as it will retain its scalability - Silver Flag, u/s Trollies, u/s Sales Ends for example ahead of Queen Vic, Bomb Middle England which are less " loved". My own view is any of the Barely Legal set are the best with HMV and Golf sale
But for me the key bit is do not buy posters, ephemera or anything at all without a COA. Whilst they are great to look at they are easily faked and are unlikely to be more valuable in the future that includes GDP products. (Sorry I am not being offensive just realistic but even so I have put my hard hat on for that one)
Good luck!!

Cheapest way to own a genuine banksy print, by Those arenโt pillows on Dec 21, 2021 3:01:51 GMT 1, I donโt mean to be invidious but one shouldnโt invest into a market they do not understand.
This applies to any asset class.
Your statement suggests you are seeking value which also infers you are looking for potential.
Do your own homework my friend, after all it is your own money you will be spending/investing. I have been collecting for 30+ years and experience tells me experience means nothing. Do your own research, which will take a considerable amount of time but then you can only praise/blame yourself dependent upon the outcome. All said, I do hope it all results in a happy ending for you.

The traditional view is that a Gallery will charge 30-50% in margin and VAT where applicable. Historically the gallery model used to be double the cost and add VAT but there is a lot more competition so margins have reduced. Inflation in the traditional and more mature parts of the art market is typically 5-10%, so this is the guideline I always advise people when looking to buy art, expect to be in profit in 5 years. Banksy, as we all know, has been different as his work has seen a higher % growth and as a long term investment it has been a huge success. Whilst this will continue, despite the soft decline this year, as a rule of thumb always buy with prudent expectations and if it does better than that, well done you!! Most important of all though buy something that you enjoy owning and looking at, art should be seen and not talked about only as an investment.

I would never advise people to โexpectโ artwork to increase in value 5% to 10% per year.

Cheapest way to own a genuine banksy print, by eD on Dec 21, 2021 14:30:33 GMT 1, Lots of great tips here as always from a very knowledgeable crowd.
Depending on your motives to buy (Investment/collection) there isn't necessarily a 'cheap' way to buy. There is always a deal to be had, but bare in mind that even at a bargain price you're still talking about a significant sum. If it costs more to ensure that the piece is 'right' and protected for future sales then that's a far better strategy that leaving question marks over a cheaper alternative.
In this market I think the main consideration should be the time value of money.
Good luck!
