Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by pvogtle on Oct 17, 2008 11:56:08 GMT 1, Hello everyone,
I browsed the Phillips catalogue and it is quite a nice sale. I particularly enjoy the Murakami works and I do agree that the estimates are well below the real value of these prints especially the silkscreen from edition of 50. Prices for Murakami are exploding because of his great retrospective in Los Angeles, New York, currently in Frankfurt (MMK) and next year in Bilbao (Guggenheim). I am pretty sure that prices are going to increase the next year so that's the moment to buy, isn't it, before it will me definitely too expensive. Koons works are also so fantastic like always, the skatedecks and the Paddle game!! cheers

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by griffermans on Oct 19, 2008 8:11:19 GMT 1, Wow, Silky... I don't see this one going too well. Especially for those Nick Walkers... Frankly most of the estimates seem off, particularly after recent auctions. I think the only work that will go well are the early and original Shepard Fairey pieces ... which is merited out in that these are what got the early bids on the ebay live auction part of this thing... I frankly can't see why many of these pieces were consigned though? Blu's Funeral??? My memory is foggy, but didn't this sit on POW for a bit? This seems like such a strange work to see in auction? I think this will be another really badly planned, poor timed auction - which frankly is heavy on really decent photography and won't do Urban Art justice.... Banksy next to toy Godzilla's... not particularly the best forum. But with Phillips, they count on supplement from the Ebay Live I suppose.
Totally disagree about the Walkers. Don't forget the americans love him. His work made way over estimate at Bonhams in the US I believe. I would certainly bet that ALL the Walkers WILL sell!

No, it's not. In fact, that Banksy Barcode Shark on the crooked canvas that was all over ebay a month or so ago ended up at Bonham's for their NY sale with what i consider an agressive mark too. IMHO, Bonham's is either going to be pleading with seller's to lower their reserve or facing an above average amount of buy in's compared to the 2 big houses.

Phillips Art Auctions • New York, Hong Kong & London, by aginghippie on Oct 20, 2008 18:22:07 GMT 1, I will be impressed if Bonhams manage to sell the Nick Walkers in the NY auction. With the possible exception of the TMA New York I think they are over-priced especially the Apish Angel. The Banksy prints in that auction are all over the place - Radar Rat is probably low at $15k-20k but CWSB at $30k-40k is silly.

thats quiet unbelievable, some of those estimates have to come down.

That's Terry Richardson, my favorite photographer. Athough I'm too fond of his cock pictures....You should see his book terryworld. Not your typical coffee table photography
