Iโm not saying NFTs arenโt the future but there is a huge lack of creativity being pumped out using NFT as an excuse for crap art. The majority of it is absolute rubbish. Brian Eno seems to be one of the few people calling it out.

Itโs about time Daniel Silk created a separate NFT section on the forum so these can be discussed separately. It is diluting discussion about what the forum was founded on - i.e. street and urban art (not jpegs on computers). |

Murakami NFT - an Invader derivate?, by bullysonzx10r on Jan 17, 2022 22:29:24 GMT 1, I have no idea what will happen with NFTs, and I definitely am a โcollectorโ who hopes that at some point the things Iโve liked by artists that move me will be worth more than I paid in the future so my child can reap some benefit when she sells dads goofy print and art collection, but I genuinely try to make sure everything I buy will make a wall or shelf. It doesnโt always happen, but I always try.
NFTs may make a wall if you were to use an electronic frame, which may be how folks are utilizing them? But to me it would likely just be something Iโd be chasing for pure collection satisfaction as opposed to the feel I get when I actually see the item sitting in my surroundings.
Iโm sure Iโll buy NFTs at some point and miss the ground floor profit that most are going to get, but Iโm just much more attracted to the physical tangibility of the art and antique items I surround myself with.

I'll never buy an NFT. But if the art I buy (be it a print, sculpture or digital) is of significant value, I believe an NFT will be a given. It will be super important for security and insurance reasons and I wouldn't be surprised if Pest Control makes all COAs NFTs at some point.
I believe in 20 years NFTs will be a standard security protocol for a lot of different stuff and the Murakami NFT be rightfully called a gif (or whatever it is). If I'm wrong, hit me up in 20 years and I buy you a drink.

The RTFKT clone x was impressive. Disagree with the Invader comment you could say that for anything with a pixel (Crypto punks etc)

I have zero interest in buying pixels even if there is a chance of profit. Stick it where your mother doesnโt wash.

That was a big driver for the forum, but I can't remember seeing much for the best part of a year. The Conor Harrington was nice... what else?

The project was ambitious, affordable, and you can burn your token in favor of a 1/1 giclee print copy. I love everything about it.
Murakami releasing pixel NFTs isn't ambitious at all, every wannabe artist and their mother is releasing pixel art NFTs because it's easy. But will it be affordable? Let's wait and see.
