Too easy. Rolling stones sold out at the end of the seventies.ย I donโt mind a boring KAWS thread hijacked for a Stones discussion. Amongst some of my music friends a discussion of their 3 best albums (in a row) varies, and is subject to taste. For me it would be Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers. Some agree some disagree. Over a pint a fun discussion. 1978 brought the great Miss You, a hit to be played in all the disco hotspots for dancing Biancaโs distress as their marriage ended - brilliant. Some consider the 1978 Some Girls album one of their favorites. Most consider 1981โs Tattoo You the Stones last record of relevance. After Tattoo You the template for Album/MegaTour/LiveAlbum/Repeat was firmly in place.

Unfortunately, with Jim getting bloated and dying early they seem to be more of a period piece living on in infamy, much like Jimi Hendrix. No growing up through the years with them. No ups, downs, comebacks.

I take your point. Like art, music is substantially subjective (like art, not entirely - Iโd like to contend that we can recognise music as great music whilst not much liking it, and we can take the view that some music is simply bad, even if liked by some). As such, my gut feeling is that the Doors are better (or that I just prefer them). I canโt think of a finer crafted LP than LA Woman (as an aside, and not particularly relevant, when my boys were little we used to holiday in Wales; when arriving into the town (always the same one) we would play the song LA Woman; to this day the song evokes the feeling of arriving in that town for a holiday (huge sandcastles) in all three of us). There are downsides to our favourites going on for many many years (as you say, the ups and downs). Bob Dylan is probably most played in my home. I really dislike his later work. Simply cannot listen to it. So Jimโs untimely death, whilst truly tragic, and their shorter career together doesnโt make them any less of a favourite. Iโm a big fan of superb lyrics (see Dylan). I think the lyrics of the Doors are superb. I do appreciate your point. But the Doors, for me, remain my favourite band of that era.

Your points also solid, my career was in music and it is truly the soundtrack to our lives. Does one burn bright then flame out, like a torrid love affair or age with imperfections. Most Dylan reviews after his moment were of the heโs back/best since category, the longing for an old love. The Doors are a great group, he a magnetic personality arguably trading long life for immortality.

Eloquently said, my friend. I agree regarding Jimโs magnetism. Iโve watched several videos of live performances and he was mesmerising. I ought to add, I do like the Stones very much. Paint it Black, to mention just one, is a wonderful song.

That's probably your debit card, you can buy a Ferrari on a CC, limits can be anything, a quick call to your bank or CC provider should fix.
