Help Requested: Removing Smudge/ Blemish from Art Print, by Ghoul Bones Jones on Jan 23, 2022 17:48:26 GMT 1, Hey All - I just dropped a beautiful hand-embellished Dave Choe off at the framers yesterday. Upon getting it prepped for framing I noticed that the print actually had a faint โsmudgeโ about the size of a penny along the bottom white border. The smudge looked like it could have been graphite from the signing/numbering process but I can't be certain. I was thinking about heading back to the framers before they begin work to maybe try and (delicately) attack the smudge with an art gum eraser. Before I did that I wanted to consult you guys and get your advice on the matter. Does anybody have any tips? Thanks ahead of time! GBJ

Help Requested: Removing Smudge/ Blemish from Art Print, by kwatis on Jan 23, 2022 18:58:30 GMT 1, A gum eraser should do the trick. Make sure that thereโs a fresh surface on the eraser so that no transfer from eraser to paper occurs. And thatโs only if itโs in an unprinted section. If the smudge is on ink, better to let a trained prof conservator handle it.

She would be an excellent source of advice in sorting this for you.
