Perhaps an NFT for me then ..??
Unless they do a non-glitter B&W version?

I have to say the red does take me back to being a painter and decorator and spending a day painting a room a similar shade of red with a psychopath whilst he blared Captain Beefheart out of a small tinny portable tape deck. So I don't find these very calming.

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by Universal Dav on Jan 29, 2022 19:29:26 GMT 1, Got this fae Heni.
Hi there,
The HENI Editions NFT Deed is a new category of NFTs offered by HENI, which are different to NFT drops by artists. These are utility NFTs provided by HENI which serve the specific purpose of delaying receipt of the physical and enabling ease of trading. There are no additional utilities or perks associated with this type of NFT.
When you redeem the HENI Editions NFT Deed for the physical, the NFT gets burned. You could of course keep the NFT after the redemption date, but the purpose of these NFTs is to delay delivery and enabled trading, which will no longer be an option after the redemption period ends.
Thanks, The HENI Team.

Still not sure that the NFT is an image of the work?
Is it not essentially not just a certificate/receipt/deed saying that you can redeem it for a physical Damien Hirst print

I’d go double NFT but I’ve never bought one before and can’t help but think I’ll make a mistake at some point and lose it or something. With the NFT you know you will get your print eventually but also strange things happen in that world so could be an interesting ride.

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by Acme Thunderer on Jan 29, 2022 19:50:07 GMT 1, I’m surprised no one else has said it yet, but the reason why Heni have released as an “NFT Deed” is so they can get their % of each sale (is it 4%?). They know that a lot of people are only buying to flip (over the next 3 years), so why shouldn’t they get their cut. Good on them.

Those early timed releases, massively subscribed were relatively cheap 3. Despite that, they increase in value despite flooding eBay (still) 4. The Virtues success was a surprise for many if not all. 5. These images are better than Virtues, albeit a bit too red 6. These new prints will not repeat the success in terms of Virtues 7. However, you will not lose money, but you won't be doubling it either. 8. Buy if you like the image. My pension pot fell again last year. Buy art, make 5-10% is a smart move IMO. Don't get over-excited about paying off your mortage.
Disagree - Virtues was no surprise, signed cherry blossom prints ; anyone who failed to see the appeal (and potential return on investment) of that must be pretty clueless.
We are now sat discussing Hirst signed butterfly prints, not just that but decent sized ones at that. Prices WILL be double initially, they treble and beyond into 2023.
Sets will be popular, so if you have the money to drop on a few sets you will be quids in.
Don't miss the boat like Virtues Tony!

I'll bet these will not be double o n actual sales. One is asking price, another is actual sales... do not forget. Only idiots buy at asking price. You can also get Virtues far cheaper than the auctions suggest

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by Runit on Jan 29, 2022 21:08:20 GMT 1, So you're basically paying up front and getting the receipt, they don't have to print and ship it, you don't have to store it. Anytime between now and Feb 2025, if you remember, you can redeem it and they'll print and send the item. In the meantime, if you want to sell the receipt, that's also ok, but the receipt is likely tied to the value of the physical work in a way NFT's usually aren't ? Also the likelyhood of thousands and thousands of buyers who are going to park this and then forget are huge. It's soooo loaded in Heni/DH's favour as to be almost a con. At this point, it feels like 95% business and 5% art. It's soooo loaded in Heni/DH's favour as to be almost a con. At this point, it feels like 95% business and 5% art.

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by Horatio Nelson on Jan 29, 2022 23:06:41 GMT 1, Even if thousands of each variant are sold in this window, there is one point I'd make.
"Editions" as a medium and type of art are becoming more and more popular. There is more demand than ever. Picasso, Matisse, Hodgkin, Moore, Lichtenstein etc would often do editions of 50 or so, perhaps 100. And they would make lots of different editions. Where you had an artist do an edition run of 1,000+ (like Warhol occasionally did), the value would be nowhere near that of the smaller edition sizes.
But things are changing in today's art market. Perhaps more people are buying art. Perhaps those who do are less fussed about having a 1/50 or 1/100. Harland Miller can do a run of 250 penguin prints (Who Cares Wins) and they'll still quadruple/quintuple in price from launch. Tracey Emin can make an edition of 1,000 (The Kiss) and people will now pay well into four figures for it. Richter can make 500 Tulips and latest going price at auction is already more than 4x price less than five years ago. We've seen from Hirst himself that having 1,300 of a particular Virtues piece (and circa 10,000 across the whole series of similar looking images) is no barrier to price appreciation.
I wouldn't be so bold as to predict that Empresses will go up at all, or to any particular price level, but I would say that an edition size of 2-3000 won't be hugely problematic. If anything, it reflects the very strong demand for these pieces in the first place. Although it's true that a larger and larger proportion of the number in each Hirst/Heni release will attributed to flippers, speculators and small galleries as many have said, I don't think that will affect things in the medium to long term.

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by dirtypete on Jan 30, 2022 0:05:44 GMT 1, I am pretty sure these 'Empresses' will emd up as a bad investment and will drag down the market for the virtues as well. A ton of flippers and small scale galleries will buy them and they will end open with very large edition numbers. My estimate is 20.000 editions in total. And the little something Virtues haad going will also be less. My price estimate a year from now is 3K for the empress - only holding up because people do not want to face the loss. In the long run the empress will end below the fruitful and forever print, because they also come with an important and nice history
I really don’t understand your logic, you state this won’t end well for Heni yet if they sell 20,000 copies that’s a cool $70m of sales!
I think more people will buy them especially as they now have the perfect hype machine after the Virtues and Currency success. The discord will also create a lot of new business. I just can’t see a total edition of 20,000.
There is a big difference in the art world between a printed and hand signed signature, especially for a blue chip artist like Hirst.

Damien Hirst H10 • The Empresses, by avec art on Jan 30, 2022 0:16:31 GMT 1, If you go for the nft option what happens to that nft deed after 36 months if you don’t redeem for a physical? Apparently you keep it, but can’t redeem the print anymore… which seems a bit odd. But not clear what it is you'd be left with. They say this isn’t t like their other NFTs. It’s more like a receipt… so maybe not supported in the same way as The Currency, etc. Maybe you’re left with a link to nothing. Surely they can simply lock the blockchain the deeds are held on through the code (that would stop trading dead in its tracks)? I've not looked deeply into it as I'm not a fan of the photographic collage process here.
Edit: they are going to be on Palm

So many snoozefests in here treating a heni release like it’s a board meeting or a newsnight panel where they need to get their “points” across

Seeing the tallied results caught me by surprise, without giving anything away, the design in first place (at the time of writing this) is not what I would have guessed.
Was interested this too, especially as the top 2 were my choices.
Bumping this poll, as it's fun to watch the votes come in. Seeing the tallied results caught me by surprise, without giving anything away, the design in first place (at the time of writing this) is not what I would have guessed. Was interested this too, especially as the top 2 were my choices.

If you like it and can afford it then buy it, if you can’t then don’t it’s very simple. So many snoozefests in here treating a heni release like it’s a board meeting or a newsnight panel where they need to get their “points” across 😴 Does it make your "brain" hurt ? :-)
