For Sale: Damien Hirst - The Currency #8264 ‘Out of fear’, by handy on Feb 11, 2022 12:56:21 GMT 1, Clearly no one is going to buy this for 18k. Maybe it's worth 10% more than the trading value of the NFT. Call it 11-12k Or maybe it is actually worth less than the NFT. It's possible the NFTs could soar in value before the trade in date so it's really hard to say whether the physical or the NFT is worth more, but they are clearly linked and the idea that one is worth 50-100% more than the other is crazy Fully agree.
Today you can pick up NFTs for less than 10k GBP via Opensea then get them traded up for a Physical via HENI up until end of July 2022. So even 12k GBP seems too much.
Bumping this at 18k GBP on here is a joke. We're now talking up to 8k GBP for the convenience of not dealing with NFTs

Could see people be willing to drop £11-£12k on these.

For Sale: Damien Hirst - The Currency #8264 ‘Out of fear’, by JockoLad on Feb 11, 2022 14:47:35 GMT 1, This.
Why would anyone pitch a sale at a rock bottom price when experience would dictate that often all that you recieve is low ball offers on this forum.
This is a work of art with little history regardng physical sales. To start low would have been a silly thing to do.
Couple of big auctions coming up which might dictate future pricing.
I didn't bother updating the original post as I really could not be bothered with the hassle from the learned forumites.

For Sale: Damien Hirst - The Currency #8264 ‘Out of fear’, by sean1397 on Feb 12, 2022 9:36:43 GMT 1, It's not about starting high or low. Sell your work for whatever the market will give
What you are completely ignoring is these works can be bought for about 11k using NFTs. it's not the exact same work and yes there is some hassle but wherever the base NFT price is will dictate how this piece trades. That's life

For Sale: Damien Hirst - The Currency #8264 ‘Out of fear’, by Dino Link on Feb 12, 2022 10:08:03 GMT 1, It’s interesting how the physical is priced a lot more than nft. For the nft you still have the option to trade it in for the physical but the converse isn’t true. I don’t have either but would prefer the nft because of cost and I could still decide later to trade it in for the physical.

We don't know that. How is starting too high going so far though? 😉 And you can say as much about little amount of physical sales yet, there is probably no other piece of art above 10k £ that has been traded as often in the last months as this. So pricing was never ever as straight forward as in this instance.
And don't forget, dealing with a private person, hoping the shipping company doesn't fuck up... to many (me included) is probably not as appealing as pilgrimaging to London, picking up a Hirst yourself and go for a glass of sparkling afterwards.
And thinking about it... do you remember the name of this series? Currency. It was created to be traded conveniently. You "ruined" that by getting the physical. Maybe you might need to be happy with cashing in a bit less than expected.

What a ridiculous statement. Do you really think that 10,000 pieces of artwork have to be destroyed because of the title of the project. If it escaped you, these were made to mimic currency in their physical state with hologram and security features - just like real currency and people who live in the real world.

For Sale: Damien Hirst - The Currency #8264 ‘Out of fear’, by JockoLad on Feb 12, 2022 11:18:26 GMT 1, Train fares to London from most parts of the UK, coupled with rising inflation negatively impacting the cost of sparkling champagne (I prefer mine flat and warm), would mean buying from me at £18k is still a bargain.
If I do sell, which will happen given I’m receiving offers a few hundred away from my biting point, I’ll likely not give any details on here. Would have liked to have shared the whole experience but will leave it to someone else to do at a later date.
I have been buying art for almost 2 decades now and always kept my big ticket items. This is new for me as I can see a way to make money, buy more art, pay for a holiday outright and walk away with my head held high.
This isn’t currency, it’s alchemy. I’ve taken lead and turned it into gold. This is so much better for the original holders that took the risk than any of them likely imagined it would be.
***He turns, jumps and clicks his heels whilst twirling his Hirst unberella, his creased signed Hirst poster in his back pocket and shark keyring jangling on his belt.

Do you really think that ...[/quote]
No, I don't REALLY think that it has been ruined. That's why there are the little "-thingies wrapped around the word. You know? 😉 Personally I don't like NFTs as a piece of art, but primarily see it as a COA. I'm still considering to pick up a Currency and would definitely want it physical. Yet if NFTs have one advantage is that it can be more easily traded and. that. was. ruined. 😉

Glad you will be considering getting the physical. Will be getting mine very soon now.
