Don't know much about photography, but a limited edition hand signed print from one of my favorite photographers Nan Goldin can be found below. This print comes as a part of the release of a limited edition record of the soundtrack to her work Sirens (which will be on display at the Venice Biennale this year). Photography is a huge field. Many fine art photographers have gallery representation, just like any other artists, so you might want to start there. Here is a sample list of galleries in the US, London, and Paris:

Some advice: Don't rush in to buying anything. If you find a photographer you really like, consider buying photobooks (monographs) of their work to give you a more broad exposure. Don't buy a print until you look at a LOT of photos. A bonus of buying photobooks is that they have their own market as collectibles.

Don't buy photography for investment. If you do, make sure the photographer has an solid auction history, and understand which individual photos are popular. Even famous photographers often have just a few photos that perform well at auction.

Magnum is a good shout for very reasonably priced prints.
I bought my eldest a signed Mick Rock photography print of David Bowie.
It was a delight to find that other pictures from the same shoot are in the Mick Rock collection of Bowie photographs published by Taschen.
Worth keeping an eye on which Martin Parr prints they sell too. Picked up one of those too. Fabulous.

personally, I think bigger the better when it comes to photography. As mentioned above, it's all down to the image itself but I've stared at a 300x180cm Fishli & Weiss in my lounge for the last 5 years and it never loses it's impact

So fucking cool. As an American, I grew up on dusty pictures of English Mods and skins and punks for inspiration. Just felt like such another world.

This thread has been great. I’ve just earmarked a Janet Beckmann NWA print for my office and still looking for a JR 28 millimetre as well. I may end up having a few pieces around the house now. Love it
