Wrapping and Storage of Framed Prints?, by bananas9 on Feb 22, 2022 16:31:02 GMT 1, If it's long term storage, the frame (if done professionally with conservation/archival grade backing/mount/etc) is going to protect your print from most things except humidity and light. These are the two things you want to watch out for, probably mainly humidity as it sounds like you're not planning on hanging the work. No frame will protect completely from humidity, so be very cautious of lofts or garages. Even a small amt of moisture over time can wreak havoc on a print in terms of mould, warping of the paper, and a whole host of other problems. I guess I don't have a perfect solution, but I'd say keep the frame somewhere you are going to check on it regularly, and you're most likely to catch a potential problem before it gets too severe.
Wrapping for transit is another question, most pros tape over glass in case of breakage (masking tape or similar) and then bubble wrap and some cardboard or similar. I wouldn't wrap for long term storage for the reasons above--you're best off keeping it so you can check on it regularly and nip anything in the bud. I'm (selfishly!) curious if anyone's got a better solution.
