DIY: using adhesives on a poster in a frame enquiry, by New Wave Dave on Mar 10, 2022 3:03:13 GMT 1, Hi all. I tend to use off-the-shelf frames such as Ikea offers. One thing I have difficulty with is getting the print to stay in place, whether under a matting or without a mat (see example below). What is the best way to keep these prints in place and not slipping down? I have stayed away from using any adhesives entirely but perhaps there are some print-safe adhesives that come off without leaving a mark..?
Not sure if anyone has had any experience using Lineco Self-Adhesive Linen Tape or Lineco Self-Adhesive Mounting/Hinging Tissue. Or just simple double-sided removable scotch tape.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Plus one on these mounting strips. I've used them a few times with a single 8ply mat, or double mat setup. Super easy.

DIY: using adhesives on a poster in a frame enquiry, by iamzero on Mar 10, 2022 22:41:26 GMT 1, Cant remember the brand of self adhesive acid free tape we use, is pretty strong and will come off without leaving a mark with a bit of patience and 'zest-it' a useful tip for heavy prints you want to float is to make a 45degree angled cut though the mount board just below the top of the print where you want to put a piece of tape and put it through from the back. that way you dont have the possibility of a folded piece gradually 'unfolding' over time and being pulled down by the weight of the print. 45 degrees just makes it easy to put the tape through as you can open up the slit by pressing on each side of the mount board.
These are called pass through hinges and is a correct way to mount. If a framer suggest rolling up a hinge to use on the back of your print I would find another framer. Personally wouldn’t use anything that needs something other than DI water to remove.
