Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by flatcolor on Mar 24, 2022 5:33:15 GMT 1, A few things I've noticed that no one has mentioned.
Bronx: Tuff City Tattoo. They usually have hand painted canvas' from the likes of Ces, Serve and other heavy hitters in the graff game for reasonable prices. South Bronx: WallWorks www.wallworksny.com/about
Soho: The Scrap Yard. (Canal St and West Broadway) An absolute NYC institution for graffiti supplies, magazines, markers, paint, t-shirts and even hand painted works and hand painted scale subway trains. You never know who you'll run into there, as there's always writers hanging around. If you're posh, you can stay at the Soho Grand next door, it's a great hotel and centrally located to a lot of great stuff in Tribeca, Soho and Chinatown. Must have food in Soho: Jeju Noodle Bar. It's authentic, reasonably priced and has a Michelin Star. No brainer if you're into that style of food
Williamsburg: I agree, with others. It's pretty played out. I don't mind the Turkeys Nest shout out earlier, it's a decent dive bar, but trust me, don't get that gross ass frozen margarita. I would highly suggest grabbing a Sicilian slice to go from Anna Maria at Bedford and 7th though.
East Village: Eric Firestone Gallery. Futura works on display during April
Enjoy your trip!

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Art Groupie NYC on Mar 10, 2023 21:56:40 GMT 1, Newest exhibition just launched in Brooklyn details below! Give me a heads up if you can come through and spread the word!
BROOKLYN BOUND EXHIBIT TO OPEN MARCH 4 STREET SIGNS, METROCARDS, MAPS & MORE TAKE HOME A PIECE OF NEW YORK CITY!
Brooklyn Bound highlighting old school graffiti artists and the next generation of graffiti writers presents collectible works using mediums including subway and street signs, maps, and toy train cars. Curated by Laura Lulu Reich and Koz, the art show will take place from March 4 โ April 2, 2023, at the Gallery at City Point, located at 445 Albee Square West in Downtown Brooklyn.
The gallery exhibit is curated to present the best graffiti artists โ past and present - recreating New York streets and subways collateral. Highlights to include street signs from subway stations including 14th Street, Fulton Street and 207th Street, painted and tagged by EASY, COPE2 and T-Kid, NYC subway maps colorfully plastered with paint by Zimad and Wane COD, framed MetroCardโs featured anime characters.
The co-curatorsโ approach to this exhibit was inspired by images and typography utilized on signs in the streets and subway system, which is synonymous to NY an democratizes the city. It doesnโt matter what tax bracket you fit into, or neighborhood you grew up in, signs are meant to be understood by the masses.
Reich comments, โGraffiti may not be embraced as easily as the signs we observe regularly, but those who contribute to this art movement continue to grab the attention of the world by storm.โ Koz, adds, โStreet signs, subway signs, and maps in New York used to be the only way to find your way throughout the city. As we move into a digital world with screens and phones taking over, it is the perfect time to find a new way of preserving the universal language of signage.โ
Some notes from the artists about the show: "It's befitting that we use found objects and ephemeral for this show. It is the New York City subway system and this city, because this is where this artistic movement rose to greatness from." โ Eric Orr
โColors and letters on the trains has the energy that can blissfully alter oneโs life.โ - Easy
Featured Artists include: AL DIAZ, BG183, COPE2, CHRIS RWK, EASY, ERIC ORR, KIT17, SKEME, T-KID, WANE COD, ZIMAD

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Wearology on May 16, 2023 12:48:09 GMT 1, Thank you to all the forum members that attended the Angel "LA2" Ortiz Show. It was great to meet so many of you and talk art. I attached some images from the show for those that were unable to attend. All the pieces being posted are sold, but will be displayed at Chase Contemporary until June 18th. LA2 has begun an international media tour and you can read about him online, hear him on the radio and see him on TV. The documentary about LA2 will be released in 2024, and it is going to completely change the narrative of what we thought we knew about the history of this legendary artist. If you like to go to museums you can always see his art in the permanent collection of the Louvre, MOMA, Guggenheim and or the Whitney. Thank you - Wear

Visit NEW YORK ๐บ๐ฒ Street Art, Galleries, Events, by Wearology on Jun 2, 2023 15:10:55 GMT 1, LA2 NYC Solo Show Update: The show launched on May 18th and will run until June 15th. There is an exhibit in the back of the gallery that highlights LA2's career from 1982 - the present. LA2 created approximately 20 new original works of art specifically for the gallery. Almost everything has sold out over the past 2 weeks. If you want to read, hear or see what is going on with the show and the artist - he has been featured in NBC, ABC, FOX & TELEMUNDO News, FORBES, W, TIME OUT magazines and New York Public Radio. The artist is starting to become more active on social media and you see clips of the interviews on his instagram. If any forum members are interested in his art for your walls please contact D'Stassi Gallery in the UK & Chase Contemporary in the US. LA2's is currently working on producing art for the most prestigious museum in Latin America and a large public installation in Europe. If you are ever at the the Whitney, MOMA, Metropolitan Museum of Art or the Louvre in Dubai, feel free to ask the curator to see LA2's work in their permanent collections. Have a great weekend forum members and congrats to LA2 and the art world for doing the right thing for a change. It has taken the artist 45 years of creating amazing art to become an overnight success.
