Derrick Adams - New “Silver Lining” Print 2022, by Criminal Mischief on Mar 18, 2022 15:44:00 GMT 1, Thanks for posting this. Seems like a top quality print and especially nice to see him do something other than a pigment print, but hard to pull the trigger when I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Is it just me, I can't make out what that image is supposed to be?

Is it just me, I can't make out what that image is supposed to be? I don't know why but the first thing I saw was a poker table - with Damien Hirst playing cards.
Even with the description below I don't fully see it. I can make out the bottom of the shoes now, but the figuration is off to me. Strange one.
Silver Lining incorporates abstract collage, vintage clothing patterns, fabric, and bold, colorful forms to communicate Adams' interest in formalism, deconstruction, and fragmentation. Playing with perspective, viewers see the exposed lining and structure of the coat as seen from an imagined vantage point beneath the runway. The piece merges the visual vernacular of garment making with the frenetic energy of a runway show – an ode to legendary Black fashion.

Same. I wanted to like it as I’ve been itching to buy something from him and I like the collage aspect, but I just am not crazy enough about the image to spend that kind of money.
