I have kept it and stored it flat and would like to ship it flat also.

not in the uk - so ship to the uk ... is a wedge as well.

Just found the above as a potential.
Would it be possible to sandwich the art between two corrugated sheets. And then surround this by bubble wrap and then more corrugated sheet outside of the bubble wrap. "Fragile", "Do not bend" etc labels outside of the most outer layer corrugated sheet.

.....so you buy the packaging for approx £150 and still have to pay for the courier.
Take a day off and deliver it yourself mate.
At least you can guarantee it will arrive in A1 condition.

Just wipe down the boards with a damp cloth as there will be dust which you don’t want getting near the print.
Then you can wrap with bubble wrap so protects from any water damage.

That's what I use for storage.. for postage, may I suggest "Hardboard" if shipping flat.. strong and light. 👍

I ship for artists and given the choice I'd alway ship a print that size tubed. They're by their nature sturdier. Flat shipping is a nightmare and you're far better off building a crate if you're going down that route. The style of crate Pejac uses would be ideal.
For a print of that value I'd double tube it. Print rolled in heavy weight kraft, triple taped with plenty of distance from the edges of the kraft. End protection on the kraft roll by taking strips and triple folding them then taping over the ends. Then bubble wrap around the kraft roll to ensure a snug fit in the tube. Seal that one up then put it in another tube or box that allows room for packing peanuts all the way round. Use sturdy tubes too.

That's really great info so thank you. I buy tubes from Defendapack which have been very reliable to date, but I'm always looking for ways to ensure that the prints are safely packed into them.
If you were able to find some time to take photos of the process you describe in your post and links to materials you use, I'm sure many members (both buyers and sellers, including me) would benefit from your expertise.

Coincidentally, actually made my own 'portfolio' with B&Q chipboard this weekend, so a doff of the cap to Morfx from me too.
Large items like this, I would certainly recommend Fragilistics, who can deliver throughout the UK.
Their vans kitted out to carry large fragile items, mirrors mainly, but they ship art too.
I've used them on a number of occasions, and cant recommend them highly enough.
Mister Frame Man also uses them, so certainly used to art.

I'll see what I can do about process photos some time. I don't use that for my day to day shipping as it would be a slow and expensive process for the artists. For something with a value like yours I put in the extra miles to ensure it gets there safely. I'm not a fan of Defendapack tubes and get my regular ones custom ordered with a 4mm wall. Definitely wouldn't use one of theirs for a high value item though.
