Just talking about ART and ART, by Lroy on Apr 22, 2022 12:51:05 GMT 1, In fact on this art forum - street-art and graffiti I remind you - some collectors are very rich, ambitious, maniac and demanding: they can't stand others who have little money (or else tolerate them, in short , do not even read them), for them, only the edition count, rare, limited, the " Banksy " , the " Kaws " etc etc .. The value! investment and show their wealth, speculate, be unique !
I won't speak about flippers.
Ladies and gentlemen, you should know that on this forum, some are happy with a Peckham rock postcard, an Invader sticker or tat, a Paul Insect poster, a book, a LP, stamps...
Also, please, you who buy, supposedly in the name of charity sometimes, let the less rich express themselves and like what they like.
Art is universal, belongs to everyone, there is no point in being elitist, discriminatory, condescending, but to be tolerant, and open: many here do not have much money and do what they can , then, it is not a defect to be condemned !
We are all together.

Yes that's very true! I once saw a post by someone saying that why did people bother with ephemera and posters when they should invest in an actual print (referring to Banksy). Because never in my dreams could I afford a print....! Any posters and stuff that I can find or afford allow me to dream a little and enjoy the art as it is, for what it is. Peace and art for all. That's the original point of graffiti and street art...

I don't agree. You have to talk about flippers if you're talking about this forum. The forum is together in the sense that there are groups of people constantly trying to manipulate others to see value in certain objects to get things sold out so that they can flip.
Beyond that, I don't think anything which is not created by the artist's own hands qualifies as art and to elevate posters, stickers and tat as art is to unintentionally cause others to waste their money thinking there is investment value in these things. At the moment, at every income level original art is available. You can get original drawings and paintings for cheap, but this is getting less so as time passes and more people are being convinced that that copies of artwork are bargains for $5000. Everything is not art, just because a gallery or artist says it's limited. A printout with a few scribbles on it is not unique original art. The myth of democratizing art only acts to make art more unattainable. It's all a scam to fleece us all and we're all fools.

I fully agree with you.
I did not talk about flipper because my post would be too long, and an all thread should be necessery to speak of them : do they merit it ? They don't care mostly about the art itself. One person; riher than me, in my family, began with a ( stolen )Invader piece on Catawiki, and now he is flipping classic canvas etc, buy, sell, buy, sell... Never happy, just for the love of money, and to " own " for a moment.
Most of " big " flippers are hunters - as you said, in group, in family or alone ( but not on the internet, Discord per example ) - and they are even able to flip gifts. It's their life. They earn money like this. Anyway I don't speak enough good English to exprim what I wanted to say, but I am agree with you.
The second part is more complicated to understand. But I am agreeing, it's mercantilism. And buying those tats, we make the hype..
Anyway, some artworks could be original and creative : Space invader stickers per example ( the last ones are the example of what you are talking about, but the packs of stickers some years ago were great, as the bouncing balls ). Another example, The Peckham Rock postcard : bought 3ยฃ50, even given, and sold now around 200/250 ( they were at more than this ) ... And the list could be long too.
You are rigth too : what do you think of all these artists making sleeves of vinyls ( Lps ) ? 3D ( did you really like this heart ? ) , Shrigley ( one per week ? ) , Kaws, Hirst ? In fact these great artists are scamming us : they made " limited edition " but there are thousand ( Nigo/Kaws are edited by Universal ?! ) of vinyls that will be on the market ( as the RSD tomorrow ) , and in years they won''t have any value ! This kind of market, as you said, makes us thinking that we are buying rare " artworks " , but it's only bizness and fake news. And it's our fault, as we buy them !
We have to make a choice in the tats, or posters, which ones are art, could have any value etc etc.. Is art has to be academic and expensive ? ( you thought about Pins for the " A printout with a few scribbles on it is not unique original art '" or I am wrong ? ) My post was to say, that if someone ( I , per example ) is happy with a pack of stickers or a cover, why not, if he is not enough rich to buy originals...
