Running the London marathon 2022, by Carl Cashman Art on Apr 29, 2022 9:15:19 GMT 1, A year ago today I jumped on the scales and weighed in at 15 stone and realised I needed to get fit. First time out running I barely made it 1km, over the year I built that up first completing a 10k, then and charity half marathon. Fast forward to now and I've lost just under 50lb, weigh 11st 8 and have been accepted to run the London marathon for Whizzkidz, an amazing charity for disabled children.
I'm aiming to raise ยฃ2500 between now and October, any donations people can make will be hugely appreciated, especially in the current climate and will help keep the motivation going over the next few months.
Biggest single donor will receive a painting from me and every donation, now matter how big or small gets your name in a hat to also win an Artwork by myself.
Thanks for reading and as ever, thank you very much for the support xx

Running the London marathon 2022, by stuckeyc on Apr 29, 2022 11:31:08 GMT 1, Good luck! I ran my first 2 marathons last year. I feel like the commitment to achieving it was more of an accomplishment than actually doing the 26.2 miles. You got this

Running the London marathon 2022, by Carl Cashman Art on Apr 29, 2022 12:10:14 GMT 1, Thanks man, congrats !. Yeah tbh every stage of progress has been pretty overwhelming and the buzz of achieving is amazing. I spent almost 20 years with addiction issues, so it's been quite the lifestyle change.

Running the London marathon 2022, by stuckeyc on Apr 29, 2022 13:01:01 GMT 1, For me its all mental. Lucky i live out in the country so I would go out and get away from everything. I also found being able to "brag" a bit helped. I would regularly text my friends after long runs to let them know i was up at 530 and knocked out 10 15 20 miles before they shook the cobwebs from the night before off. It also made it easier to not drink which was part of my pandemic survival plan (keep all systems running at peak performance levels). Establish a routine and it will just flow. You got this

Running the London marathon 2022, by jimboa on Apr 29, 2022 13:38:45 GMT 1, You'll smash it, key to endurance sports is consistency. Make it a routine and stick to it where possible.its ok to miss a run here and there. Listen to the body, it will tell you if you need extra rest. It certainly helps prevent injury. Any questions on training happy to help.

Running the London marathon 2022, by Ravnur 2020 on Apr 29, 2022 13:49:59 GMT 1, Good luck with it!
I ran my first and only marathon a couple of years ago. It was a fantastic experience. Among so many excited runners and jolly spectators the run was so much fun and in a strange way felt a lot more easy and short than all the training runs.
Have fun!
