There was something sort of retro/cool about his old work, and he's a bit of a legend, but yes... looks dated and no idea why someone would spend this much on a new print.

3K for Sorayama seams like a deal compared to that.
Galleries in general are adjusting their prints prices to the highest possible collectors would pay.
The prints flipping phenomenon coming to an end IMO.

Examples are Genieve Figgis, Emma Stern, Chloe Wise, Vaughn Spann, etc....
Almine Rech knows how to get people to Spend $$$$
