Los Angeles currently has a growing artist community that is really capturing the essence of the city and whose work is getting the attention of many people in and outside of the city.  one of my favorites and one of the best is Saj Issa.  fell in love with her work last year when i first came across it at a group show.  She just released her first print, the forums have always been good to me in discovering new artists so i thought i'd share the print info and some examples of her work, if you get a chance to see her work in person don't sleep.  she recently had a showing with albertz benda and all the work sold out.

Saj Issa is a
multidisciplinary artist whose work explores relations between the East
and the West through examinations of Eastern iconoclasm and contemporary
Western iconography. Drawing inspiration from her diasporic upbringing,
Issa merges traditional Islamic geometric patterns with Western signs,
product branding, and logos. Her works reflect upon contemporary
consumerism while referencing migration and displacement as experienced
personally by a “third culture kid”.⁠
