For his latest collaboration with Case Studyo, Parra returns to his favored subject matter, the feminine form in all its gestural glory. The female never ceases to inspire and is often granted the main role in the artist’s paintings. Voluptuous curves are rendered as graphic shapes, portraying poetry with playful precision.

‘Waking Up’ is the sculptural successor to the 2017 bronze and marble edition ‘Sleeping’.

The sculpture depicts the evolution of our protagonist as we see her slowly arise from her slumber. We are granted an insight into the intimate moment that represents both the physical and mental awakening of our leading lady. Although we catch the figure off guard in a most vulnerable position, she is not ready to give up all her secrets yet. Her face remains shrouded by her voluminous hair as she continues to be a mystery.
