I don't understand the "unfortunately" part of you comment -- if you were in debt because of "prior" purchases, then why purchase the print and get further in debt unless you had no intention of keeping it in the first place.
I don't know why people offer excuses, if you're going to sell it, just sell it and leave it at that.

I assume it is so that we feel sorry for him and his 'tragic' life story.
That way we will all accept him rather than slate him.
