I’d rather fight the bots and have a known drop time thats not a minute early nor late, if you want something bad enough thats usually doable.
Lots of better options - ship to billing address only, 1 purchase per card/billing address/mailing address combo, I’d even go so far as requiring matching verified identification ie passport in order to add to cart.

You can never stop people reselling/flipping (from any gallery) as that is the nature of the industry. The only way to reduce it is by doubling the prices so there isn’t the profit margin, then people would still criticise if they did. I would be happy if prices increased to give me a better chance of winning, but at the end of the day, Whatson is popular and there will never be a solution to keep everyone happy.
My only beef is with the people who enter multiple times (and they know who they are 😉).

GP could do things like Invader and Banksy and such that they check IP's or require credit card to be attached, etc. GP probably holds 1/3 back, sells 1/3 to their in-crowd and then maybe has 1/3 to sell to the average joes. and many of these average joes know how to work the system, because GP really doesn't care since they have their "vault" and are going to make a buck off the flipping price too.
Again, I wish Martin Whatson and SNIK would leave GP. I mean, look at the interest when MW worked with Adachi!!! I was all in on that piece...sadly didn't win, but ok with it as I am pretty sure Adachi doesn't have a "vault" in which they hold back pieces that were meant for a lottery and then sell them at flipper prices.

And show me another printer/seller that has a "vault". Seems like a conflict of interest in my view. And yes, I understand galleries sell to their special customers first. But GP isn't some exclusive gallery in mayfair of london. It sells prints. And surprise surprise, I wonder who gets the first crack at the "vault" releases...
You ask why should the flippers make the money? Because they are the one's buying the prints. I hate flippers, but if they buy and lose, it's on them. For the printer/gallery to do it is just shameful. GP should then just jack up the price to what they are "worth", sell all of them at once with no vault, and no one makes the money except Martin Whatson. But then you will claim that they would be out of the reach of the regular buyer. That's the rub, right? Either sell to the regular buyer at prices they can afford and the flippers be the crappy flippers, or sell to match market price.
And if I understand you correctly that GP should make the money and not the flippers, isn't that just calling GP a flipper? GP should be a seller. not both a seller and a flipper.
This just reiterates my comment that MW should leave GP.
