Search for information about an edition of Faile, by moyo on Jan 9, 2023 14:05:06 GMT 1, Hello,
I recently bought an artwork by FAILE at an auction. As it was a general sale, not particularly street-art oriented, I don't have much informations about it. So, I was wondering if someone could help me and give me some renseignements.
Here is the picture.
It's a large size screenprint (127x98.5cm) with stencils and acrylic handpainted background. I did not found any signatures, dates or numbering. I opened the frame to look at the back but there is nothing but traces of paint.
I did some research to find the year of edition. I looked on artcollectorz or expressobeans but couldn't find anything that matched.
While doing my research, I found this link: The background matches completely with mine, so I'm wondering if it's the same print or if several had the same background pattern. In the description there is not much more info, except a year:2004 and a gallery that is mentioned. Contacting the gallery will be my last option for getting information.
I also saw that there was a book urbanartassociation.com/thread/60389/faile-book-prints-originals-1999 . This book is no longer available, but does anyone know if it is exhaustive and if it's worth my while to try to get it to find some info?
Thank you in advance for your help

Search for information about an edition of Faile, by WOOF on Jan 9, 2023 18:38:29 GMT 1, This is actually your best bet. Email the faile studio. In the past, I did that and one of the Patrick's actually called me up to discuss the piece in question.

A great find! Lovely. Agree with what other members said - contact Faile. In the meantimeโฆ Yes, itโs the one from the Phillips. Itโs what they called a Monoprint. Basically a motive โ10 Waysโ (which had been used on various originals and prints over the years, this one is from 2004 I believe) screen printed on hand painted/printed background - considered to be an original. There is only one with this background. 1/1. You can see it in the book Prints and Originals 99-09 on page 60 along with few other versions of this motive.
